I wouldn't worry too much...

The '00 5.3 had 285 hp at flywheel, and I believe 350 lbs. torque.

Edelbrock claims a 9 hp gain with their Headers alone.

I would say he is looking at this for horsepower...

285-50 at the Flywheel= 235
Headers 9
Exhaust 15
Airaid 15
Superchip 20
---------
294

I would guesstimate, w/o a dyno run, around 290-300 hp, and around 370 lbs. torque at the tires.

Anyone else, have any suggestions or comments...

Good Luck, R1968

No chance

http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado/index.htm

Take a look at this link. The motor has 285 horse= around 235 on the rear wheel.

+ 10 or so for exhaust
+ 20 superchip
20"- tires= traction.

L= 335 on the rearwheel

I suspect you should beat him by atleast 4 car lengths. Just do a good burnout before the race- Then hammer him into the ground!

Please!

'Sean:

Come on now! NO WAY will you get outrun by that thing. Not only will you pull him through any gear, any any speed, but you will DEFINITELY come out of the hole harder.

I'm pulling 2.0XX 60-foot times ALL DAY in bad air with my bone-stock 2000.

Practically nothing, and particularly that lightly-modified pickup, will run with you in a street setting. You will come to appreciate this as you get a few miles under you belt.

Whup on the boy, and do it quick, before somebody talks some sense into him.

I'm thought the 5.3 was rated at 270 as advertised. Plus all of the previous perfrmance parts are there maximum ratings and at flywheel definately not rearwheel, and in optimum conditions. Especially on a none blown engine, that is being very optimistic.

If he's lucky he's sitting at 270 rwhp and if it is 285 flywheel it still isn't anymore than 280.

Either way you'll smoke him

You should win - I mean he is using "Elderbrook" headers - I think thats like the Wal-Mart brand "Equate", right?

Thumbs up SVTSean...

Hey Bolt owners, I'm on your side. I don't think the GM guy has a prayer.

The numbers I qouted are from various truck magazine's. I do not want to step on anyone's toes here, ok.

I have had nothing but bad luck from GM products. I am back with a new FORD, and plan on keeping it a very long time. I am very happy with it's overall performance/reliability/comfort.

Let us know what happens to your GM buddy...

We would love to read about a GM kill...

Try about 10 rwhp MAX, not 20, for the superchip on an N/A vehicle, esp. that one that is so close to stock.
