blown up lightning need advice!

So I just bought a 2000 lightning thursday night test drove before I bought it had an engine light but they cleared it before I left the lot...no they did not tell me the code. Engine sounded great charger sounded great 170,000km drove it 2 hours home cruise control 110kph put my foot into her a couple times for a couple hard pulls. VERY NEXT MORNING got up for work half way there truck was up to operating temp stepped into her n lost power without warning put in neutral shut off engine and tried to restart. Wouldn't start oil huffing out the valve cover breather and I'm pretty sure I heard the piston come clanging out the exhaust

needless to say the dealer I bought it from paid for a flat bed and are fixing the motor for free

As far as I can see its got an airaid intake n a loud as f*ck exhaust no idea what brand

Should I be scared this motor is going to spit out another piston/motor?

Like slammediam asked WOT in OD? If so those are a no no. Also look at the bottom SC pulley and measure it from lip to lip. It may have been upgraded and the tune for that pulley was erased. If that's the case, yes you will blow the new motor unless you get it tuned by a tuner.

Anytime you go WOT,make sure OD is turned off....When it down shifts,it puts stress on the bottom end...The bottom end is a weak point..And double check the pulley(lower crank). If you have a pulley find out the measurements...If you live where it gets cold and you have a lower pulley, stock block wont like it either

So basically when it down shifts any gear is dangerous or just OD to 3rd or 2nd. Also if that crank pulley is different would my Ford dealer be able to tune it or no? I live in northern Canada it gets to -40 here lol...lastly does anyone make stronger rods for this bad boy? Saw the jdm performance ones but weren't sure if they were better or not

JDM, JLP, and a bunch of others build stronger motors for the L's. Now here's another issue that could have been part of the reason you blew the motor. If the bottom pulley has been changed and the stock tune put in. At those temps (4 to 6 degrees) you could have maxed the mass air flow meter. Your best bet at finding the reason or at least eliminating some reason is by getting a picture of that bottom pulley and posting it here. If not at least the belt part number if it's readable on the SC belt.
