Note to self: Do not waste money on wheel locks you can get off with a 3/4 socket!

It did make a lot of noise getting them off. Don't know if that's worth the $30.00 for locks or not..

Good idea. Should use that idea for melting ice of the paint in the winter too. Or maybe you can cut the wheel off around the lock. YYYYYYYYYYea ok.

I really hate wheel locks. There is really no need for them, because I could remove a wheel with a lock in around 10 seconds with this tool that the shop that I work at has that bites into the sides of the lock allowing you to get a hold of it.

I agree with DongKingKong....most wheel locks out there are pretty useless. We have a kit where I work that can take off most locks (Discount Tire). If someone wants your wheels bad enough, they will find a way to get them.

I have used a long flat head screw driver or chizzle and beat it off with a hammer.
Broke the lug, but go the wheel off.
If your good, you won't scratch the wheel. But I really wouldn't advise doin' it that way unless you are desperate.

Yeah it is an old thread (still made me chuckle again though)

BUT liquid nitrogen is the cleanest, fastest, and easiest way to do it... You can buy it at any chemical supply place or "borrow" it from work like most people do.
I do not use my wheel locks. I don't think they look good and they are extremely simple to defeat... Those that don't have the "know how" to get them off will just ruin your rim trying to get them off then you still have to replace the rim so why bother.

Liquid nitrogen could cause the lug and potentiall the bolt to break...and if you arn't carefull you could even damage the rim...Thieves have an easier method..buy one of the "infomercial" sockets (I don't recall the name, but they have pins inside the socket to fit any head size)..The pins will seat in the channel that the key would normally fit in.

If I'm not mistaken the service department at the dealership has a set with all the keys. Only reason I say this is because when I got work done on my Mustang it was from a tech on the weekend at the dealership. He had me bring the car up there and we used his tools and lift there at his work. I remember seeing them and commenting on how nice it would be to have it. Now granted that was about 6 years ago so it may not be valid now.

Ive been witness to a shop that tack welded on the head of a hardened bolt, and then had to put the air gun on top of that to remove.. They said customer said ruin the wheels if ya got to, just get them off!!

Needless to say, after all that, the wheels and hole where lug goes thru was perfect.. this shop knew their *****
