JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT I'M A REDNECK!

2000 F150 4X4:

Thanks for pointing out to me and the rest of the world, on this board nonetheless, that I'm a redneck (by virtute of my residence in Clermont County, Ohio). I have been blissfully unaware of this fact for the past 34 years, and have as a direct consequence conducted my life in a most "non-redneck" manner (advanced degree in engineering, marriage to an engineer with similar credentials, managerial-level position in a Fortune 50 company R&D division, etc...). Honestly, I just didn't know that I was a Red Dog swilling, Beech-Nut chawing, Rusty Wallace rooting , stars-and-bars waving redneck! Really, I didn't!

I pledge to you that from this day forward, I will terminate this charade and embrace my true identity, indeed my heritage, as a redneck. I'm considering several new nicknames, but I can't decide between Junebug, Bubba, Sweetpea, or Cooter. Perhaps you could help me select a fitting monniker.

I also plan to inform all of my co-workers (we even WORK in Clermont County!), especially those with the pedigree "Doctor" before their name, to give up this silly game and just acccept the fact that they're all toothless, cousin-humping, okra-munching goobers and start, today in fact, rooting for Bill Elliot. Perhaps they could plant some kudzu in the front yards of their multi-hundred-thousand-dollar estates to give some "authenticity".

Of course, we'll all have to "upgrade" our vehicles to something more "appropriate" to our Winston smoking, "Jeff Gordon's a queer little sumbidge" shouting, wife-beating lifestyle. Pehaps an Amazon green, short bed, 2000 model Ford F150 Supercab four-by would fit the bill? You think?

Look, I wasn't born here, didn't attend school here, and sure don't plan to die here. I have no particular allegiance to this mediocre county outside of a mediocre city in a mediocre state in the mediocre Midwest. I just wanted to point out, in as sarcastic manner as possible, the ridiculous and overwhelming ignorance at the root of your statement. I'm assuming that you live in Hamilton county. You do, right? Then please tell me, what sort of people, by your simple classification scheme, live in Norwood or Price Hill? For that matter, how about Over-The-Rhine? Perhaps you don't want to go there...

People like you, with nothing better to do than categorize or stereotype, make me sick.

Unbelievable

Wow! Back off people! Don't blame Nascar for what corproate people are doing to it. I mean look at drag racing- damn - they don't even turn the wheel! They could install the club and do just as good right? Indy, who buys the rubber bands? Look , I like almost all racing-NASCAR, NHRA drag racing, CART, etc. Personnaly I liked it when ESPN covered the races instead of the "big" channels. The way Fox and NBC are doing it they could make anyone hate any type of racing. Never know what's coming on, way too much show biz hype. Am I right? You all have a right to like what you like but no one wants to see their brand of racing ruined by corporate television and big money marketing. And I wouldn't go thinking that anyone can hop in a NASCAR Winston Cup car, NHRA Prostock or indy type car and drive it as fast as these people do. "cause if you can with NO experience then you will have a new high paying career ahead of you. Not flamin' anyone but racing is racing, whether you go right, left straight or all of the above.
To Silver Y2K-SVT, get 'em.

Too bad you're offended, but I'm speaking the truth. People in Hamilton county (NOT JUST ME) DO consider Clermont county to be redneck country. Jeez, lighten up. The way you lashed out, you'd think you are proud of your county, but since you weren't born there and think the whole area is mediocre, why are you so upset? There are obviously many well-educated people in Clermont county, hell the most expensive neighborhood in the whole area is in Clermont county. BUT, most of the "redneck" type people I know do live in Clermont county.

Honestly, I just didn't know that I was a Red Dog swilling, Beech-Nut chawing, Rusty Wallace rooting , stars-and-bars waving redneck! Really, I didn't!
Me neither. Never said anything like that.

Hmm, seems like YOU just categorized and sterotyped NASCAR fans.

You think?
Dunno, I just bought it b/c 2wd won't go anywhere on our hills around here in the winter and I need to tow a boat. Didn't try to be a redneck, but if so, I don't really give a ****. If you read that into a vehicle, you must be catergorizing and stereotyping again.

I knew someone in Clermont county would get pissy about that comment. Oh well.

Oh yeah, I think Bubba is pretty common out there so I'd go with Cooter if I were you.

I'll drop this now, you can reply back if you'd like, and I'll read it, but I've said my feelings on NASCAR and the local fans and stick by them.
