Fox buys and kills all Speedvision programming for an all NASCAR venue..Petition >

This petition is intended to discourage FOX television from transforming the newly-purchased Speedvision network into an all-NASCAR channel. We understand the significant investment FOX has made in promoting stock car racing, but we do ask that changes made to the format of the network be made with a minimal amount of disruption to the other outstanding programming presently shown on the totally unique Speedvision network. Speedvision provides a crucial service to the motorsports community, being the only cable or broadcast TV network in America to provide in-depth coverage of Formula 1, vintage, motorcycle, sports car and endurance racing, as well as amateur and other lesser-known series and events such as FIA and SCCA rallies, Trans-Am, and the annual SCCA Valvoline Runoffs. This season’s flag-to-flag coverage of the Daytona, Sebring and LeMans endurance races was a rare blessing for racing fans. It would be a crime for this outstanding coverage to no longer be available to the growing motorsports community of this country. We ask FOX for caution, moderation and fairhandedness as they reformat this new addition to their fine news, sports and entertainment network.

I signed that petition last week sometime. I just hope i'm able to watch formula1 (real racing), AMA and world superbike next year. Personally, i think a 24 hour nascar channel is freakin pathetic. There are probably over a dozen nascar related shows already, what a bunch of *****. Nascar blows.........

NASCAR is only half racing, only turning left and not having to use the brake peddle.

Like someone else here said, where the beef? F1, World superbike, AMA superbike, F1 mototcycle racing, F1 boat racing, ect.......

Is this the end of the world? Heck ya!

Edit for the mentally challenged, sarcasm on.

Yeah, NASCAR isn't real racing.

I mean really, anyone with enough brain cells to crank up a Lightning in the morning and then still have a few in reserve to make it to work in one piece, could out drive those STUPID NASCAR guys. Hell, I went to the Richard Petty driving school myself, and just pulling up in my L automatically got me my NASCAR license. I even offered the King himself a chance to drive the beast, but he declined saying "that thing is too fast for me, I'd be way over my head before I got the seatbelt on".

Sarcasm off.

Hate to disagree with you, but have you ever heard of Sears Point or Watkins Glen

Fast Gator, those who have a clue should just disregard this thread. There have already been 4 complete disconnects between the seat and the keyboard.

I agree, I think NASCAR is a joke. So they run 2 road courses. Still don't turn right 95% of the time. RWD, tube chassis, carbed V-8 pushrod engines turing 9000 RPM with fake bodies to make it look like a FWD unibody EFI 6 cylinder car. OK that makes uhh, sense? Can't ever run in rain (F1 does), and they don't really go very fast for all that HP. I still watch it occasionally, the incar view with all of the RPMS, speed etc is cool. Beyond that, I agree it is a hick sport. Most of the people I know who *like* NASCAR are people I work with who live out in Clermont county. Around here, that's considered "hick" area. But we just call them rednecks. My opinion..

We don't even get Speedvision around here, you're lucky if you get it.

I hate to tell you but 90%, of the NASCAR drivers actually attend a local 1 day driving school (Bob Barderant?) when they race at Sears Point or Watkins Glen to learn the track, again...... This has been known for years.

Only slightly up the food chain we have the Indy car drivers, in which I’ve never heard of any of them attending a local driving school after racing at a super speedway to a road circuit?

Go figure?

I do not discount the skill level of the drivers, but NASCAR blows for two reasons. One, the results are rigged. When a manufacturor comes out with a technically superior innovatation, eg. the slippery Ford Taurus, they immediately juggle the rules so that the GM cars will not be disadvantaged. I don't see them tweaking the rules in F1 so that Menard can run with Ferrari. And two, they try to maintain this ridiculous pretense that the cars you see circulating the track are in some way related to the cars you can buy at your dealer. This may have been true in the days of the Lincolns and Hudson Hornets, but it is totally laughable now. I like to watch racing where the best drivers driving the most advanced cars win, and NASCAR aint it.
