Used nascar parts
I don't know about NASCAR, but my sponsor runs a circle track car and it HAS a mufler which is mandated by the series he runs in. I don't know if NASCAR requires mufflers, but many of the racing series do.

NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch, and Craftsman Truck series all run an open dual exhaust. It is kind of like a side pipe, and exits in front of the rear wheel. I believe most of the setups include an X or H style cross over pipe to balance backpressure, depending on the particular tune they are looking for.
Some of the weekly racing series (Latemodel Stock Cars) may run a muffler if the track requires it. None of my local tracks use mufflers on any series they run.
I think the only parts from a Winston cup car that would be useful on an L are suspension and brake parts. I'd love to have a 4 link rear setup with a track bar (panhard bar) and a wildwood brake setup from a Martinsville or Sears Point car.
