"R/T's have out sold Lightning's by 10-1"

"I would never take the L over the R/T. MY R/T handles better outta the box, ha s abigger engine, less weight, and if I bolt up a 2400 dollar supercharger to it and 90 bux set of HGs, it would run perfect, and a few tenths faster than a new L, with a leaky intercooler. So, that'd make me quicker, faster, better handling, and IMO better looking, yeah real inferior. I hate the aura that surrounds the L. Everyone thinks it's God's gift to trucks. My ***..... I have one around here that acts like he wants some but will never race me. Why? I raced and destroyed some of his buddies, and I assume his friend's are faster. Maybe he should check his damned intercooler..... "

"IMO, it's a draw as the L is faster in a strightline, but the R/T can handle better., and that's sad because the R/T is 2/3 the price. You can't even get a freakin' extended cab Lightning!

As for Limited edition, well, compared to sa, a 01 L, EVERY year of the R/T has been more limited than them (7500 units), and Ford can't even sell those 7500, it's pathetic IMO. There's never even been 6500 R/Td produced in 1 year. There was 14XX in 98, 6XXX in 99, and 4XXX in 00. We don't know 01s numbers but they're prolly a lil less than 00s. "

Thumbs down

I had a 99 Dakota Slt with all the boltons you could imagine ( sc'er,headers, bored and polished TB,Msd ing, roller rockers, gibson exhaust etc.etc.) I wanted something better and of course looked at the r/t's first (test drive etc..)..Then I figured what the hell,,go look at the "L"'s.. Thats all it took, no comparision. and I've road raced 2 r/t's niether one could take the curves as well as tge L..
Sorry for the long post but those dodge boys **** me off with thier ignorance..

no idea...I think i've seen 2 r/t s and only in passing. I
doubt they know what they are talkin about. I imagine the look like Dakotas or durangos or whatever...they look ok, but they are way smaller than the L. I don't know what to say.....tell them to stop drinking drain-o

Well considering you can't even look at the threads unless you register, noone has can see what they say and take action to appropiatly educate them.

IMO, it's a draw as the L is faster in a strightline, but the R/T can handle better., and that's sad because the R/T is 2/3 the price.
True to a point, I think the R/T handles better then the L only b/c it's a tad bit lighter, but doesn't handle enough better to make it draw. With our power and slightly less better handling we will still win on a road course.

As for being 2/3 the price, good point, but it takes a little bit more cash then a $2400 S/C to compete with us.

Didnt look at the posts on the other board but have autocrossed and drag raced more than a couple R/T's and the Lightnings were consistently on top

Better yet - Here are the results from the last autocross
http://autocross.com/er/cc501.htm - Look in the SSP class
Both of the RT's were pretty well modified

Well the last time someone called for help on th R/T board I tried to register and wasn't allowed! I made up a vin, that didn't work then I used my L's vin and got some tacky response via email as to why they wouldn't let me on. When I replied that I owned and Bolt and was there checking out the comp the response I got was to the affect that since I owned an L that was all the MORE reason NOT to let me in!? LOL,The even fear us in the "Cyber World" As for the R/T's... Well I've gotten tired of sh#t kickin' the ones around me so much I just ignore them now. Some goof driving one actually wrecked his trying to goad me into a race while in traffic a few months back! It was one of the most brilliant things I ever witnessed. Way to go tough guy!!!

that is not the R/T board you guys are thinking of, it's the dakota section of the http://www.moparchat.com/ list. it's the same format as this one (now), anyone can get on, hell, they let Brooks in i'd go over there, but since i bought a Lightning, my Dodge status is diminished , or something

Yes, it certianly fosters good will to others when you wont let someone sign up to VIEW posts on a board unless they own a certain type of vehicle. Lame.

If the same were done here, I dont know if I would have a L. The amount of knowledge displayed here(sometimes - heh) and the good spirit I see in most of the posting here is another incentive to purchase a L. If you were interested in an R/T and looking for info, wouldnt you like to find a user group you could ask questions of?

There are two R/T's in the town I live in, a dark green and a dark black one. They have both thrown a rev my way, but the opportunity to race them has not come about yet. I cant wait til it does.

Guys you should go register there just to read that topic it's so funny. My favorite lines:
Gimme a break, oh, they put a blower on it and it runs low 14s and a few 13s, I'm so friggin' impressed. It's incredible and unbelieveable! How did they do that with just a V8 and 8lb blower??? I mean, and R/Ts with a 4 1/2 Powerdyne runs slightly quicker with half the boost, but still, Wow, that's Ls so damned impressive!
Okay an article I read with powerdyne on the 4.7 engine w/ 6lbs boost only hit mid 14's in the 1/4. But my favorite is the Wings West (I believe they did it) with a Kenne Bell S/C hitting a nice 12lbs of boost on an X-cab R/T and didn't even break into the 13's in the 1/4. Please explain how a powerdyne w/ 4.5lbs off boost will beat me.
and
No, dude, LISTEN, they made 7500 Ls this year, and they are habing trouble selling that amount.
Last time I checked the year still isn't over, correct?
and
ha s abigger engine, less weight ... me quicker, faster, better handling,
hmmmm...
our stock weight avg w/ us plus stereo stuff in it about 4800lbs.
stock club cab is about 4100lbs
stock reg cab is about 3600/3700lbs (not sure 100%)
stock reg cab + bigger engine + lighter = mid to low 15's in 1/4

stock lightning is 100+hp more + weigh anywhere from 1100lbs to 700lbs more = low 14's/high 13's stock.

can someone check my math

Ha Ha...handle better my @$$

Yeah, maybe they handle better off-road. I had a black R/T try to keep up with me down an S-shaped exit ramp. He made the first curve by the skin of his teeth, but did some serious off-roading on the second curve...A man's gotta know his limitations. That black truck was brown when he got back on the road.

thx for the help Brooks, I can't seem to tell these 2 guys anything... I have continually backed up the L (even though I own a Dakota) I think Houndog knows what I am talking about (all those flames in the DML )

Oh well, they will never learn.

Oh, he also says his R/T is faster than most all 99+ GT's.. including mine. lol

Yup, He's (make that they.. they are brothers from what I hear)hated by most of the DMLers... Hes kinda thick headed...

Dont get your panties in a bunch... He feels like his (what my guess is a mid 14 sec) truck is running 12's or sumthin... Hes just a looser with a R/T... please be kind...
