The JDM lower pulley is here
hdmlnium,
Congratulations on the 12's!!!! Forget the nay sayers - we know what's best!! I could have been on this board the last month bashing a certain vendor BUT I chose to handle it privately as I believe it should be!!!

To put things in their proper perspective, this was a group purchase and they were the only people that were charged back in January. It's been 6 months not 7. The GP price was $239 for a pulley with the OEM bearing and cage. The money was charged because the first machine shop was already in the process of making them and nobody thought about machining problems. Jim readily admitted that was a mistake on his part for taking any money before having the parts in hand. Lesson learned. He's never charged me for anything else until it was shipped. He said anybody that did not want to wait could have a refund. I was willing to wait because I knew from back in January that the pulley was going to be about a $100 more if you weren't part of the GP. Some people got refunds and some traded out for other mods. I think only about a 1/3 of the people in the GP are still waiting. Sure he could have refunded everybodys money but you would pay more to buy one now. To me it was worth prepaying for 6 months to get the pulley I wanted for a bargain. According to Jim, he has had $7,800 dollars tied up with machinist and we have only had $239 tied up. I think you will be pleased that you had the good business sense to wait it out when you see how much extra it would cost and the fact that you would not have received it any sooner. I wanted mine just like everyone did but I was never in doubt about getting it. My only doubt was when and now that's been answered
It takes him 7 months to get 3 or 4 pulleys out? If there was really a problem on build quality, then it shouldn't have take 7 months. I think there is some stuff going on we dont know about.... But anyway, had any else gotten one?
I haven't seen mine yet but I've been on the list as a paid customer since the first day they were offered for sale. If they are truely here and ready to be delivered I would hope to see it on my doorstep sometime this week.
Speculation without facts is nothing more than that, speculation. I see this as growing pains of a rather new Lightning "tuner"/ "performance product provider". Sal went through it, Superchips went through it, and then JDM. Looks like Sal learned alot and is really on top of things now.. I am sure JDM will do the same. We Lightning owners are pretty demanding and impacient, I'm guilty myself. That puts extra pressure on the "tuners" and evidently it led to a couple of mistakes with all of them. I'm sure we all have our stories and experience with each and we all have our favorites but its time to cut some slack on people, PLEASE...its childish! Especially if its speculation, or he said she said...blah blah blah.
Tommy, I'll be sure and let you know when I get my pulley.

Great times and very good post, I don't know Jim but all I ever heard from the people that have met him personally are very good things. Where can you purcahse the JDM lower pully kit and how hard is it to install?
Thanks,
terry

That's 6 months and supposedly 100 pulleys. Please know what your talking about before posting just to bash.
I had the original GP list written down and I don't see you or your dads name on it so why the bashing.
I have to agree with what Caka said. I remember when Sal was being bashed to no end. Some people were waiting on their product and some were just bashing to be bashing. He got everything straightened out with his move and made most people happy. I think most of these tuners have figured out they can't make everybody happy no matter how hard they try and they DO try.

Caka...I totally agree with your statement.....and.....the fact.......the fact that one has the cage...and one does not...now why did Ford Engineering include that cage...crankshaft harmonics??.....reduced blower whine?.....
lets ascertain which of the two is the better buy.....so the good of this is JDM is a survivor of modern times....quit your dad gum whining....welcome to the "hot rod" world.....**** happens

I remember reading back in 1/99 Car and Driver. Lightning made the cover, FIRST TRUCK to ever get cover. Mag gaves small list of where FORD got the parts for the Lightning. Like master cyl off of F250, trans out of diesel, spider bracket that holds bearing support is used on commercial refrigeration trucks.
So take it for what it's worth. Ford had the part before the lightning. But they may have remembered the early supercoupe Tbirds that broke ends off crankshatfs due to load(posibly from supercharger).
I found my print that was sent to dealers. My sells man gave me. Is a 4 page front to back. MAg cover is front, inside and back is what C&D wrote.

this thread has gotten a little off track, but here's my .02 cents. I also met Jim & Julie from JDM at Fun Ford Weekend at Virginia Motorsports Park. They were both cool and willing to help everyone there. My JDM chip cut 7 tenths (.7 sec) and added 4 miles per hour to my otherwise stock 2001 Lightning. I ran a 13.28 at like 102.9 mph. So I am overall very pleased with JDM so far. So pleased in fact that I didn't order any of the upper pullies on the market and didn't order the PSP lower pulley that has been available for some time. I just waited for the much anticipated JDM lower. anyway, I was very excited when I got home from my vacation in Nags Head N.C. yesterday and I saw this thread about how the JDM pullies had arrived. Well, I called them from work this morning to order a pulley, and a filter, and a breather cap (if it actually does anything or not, or just looks cool?) and maybe a fan too. Upon calling I was told that I'd have to be put on the dreaded "waiting list". "what?" I said, I thought the pullies had arrived? "yes, but we have two shipments..." they told me. what the h*** does this mean? I understand that the folks who have been waiting for months need to be delivered first, but still a dissappointment. so I just added my name to "the list" and I suppose I'll have to wait till they call me back If I want to deal with them.
not trying to slam JDM, but I wonder how "small" their small business is, they seem to have very little in stock.
that is all.

Lightnings have a FORGED crankshaft that can handle nearly 700 rwhp unmodified. The Supercoupes didn't. It had nothing to do with the blower load upon the front of it.

PSP's pulley compared to stock:
7.5 / 3 = 2.5 5300rpm x 2.5 = 13,250rpm blower speed
At 5500rpm x 2.5 = 13,750rpm blower speed
With PSP lower pulley:
8.0 / 3 = 2.6 5300rpm x 2.6 = 13,780rpm blower speed
At 5500rpm x 2.6 = 14,300
Eaton states these things are absolutely safe at 14k rpms but have no test data past that. The Jaguar w/ the same blower runs at 14k. I'm curious to know why JDM went with a smaller pulley. There is only 530 rpm differences between PSP's and the factory one at 5300. I'd think anything smaller wouldn't be worth it.
