How much distance does it take to reach 147 MPH (approx)?

Each time I did those high speed runs, I was on my street tune for 91 octane and I belive the timming is 18 degrees with a very safe A/F ratio.

I have another tune for 91 with more timing and a tune for race gas, but I've only ran that at the track.

My question wouldnt be how long it takes to get there instead it would be how long can the truck sustain these speeds without taking a dump

Not long, where can you run at that rate for long??

The longest I had ba**s to keep it there, was for about 10 seconds more or less (it felt like a long time), that was long enough to give me the *******, the spedo was maxed out past the 145 and then some more. I have a small shift light (for show) and my baby was asking to shift in to next gear, the light just kept on flashing the engine had more to go, I have done it about four times in the past 8 years!!

How long can you keep it there, I don’t know!!!
It always seemed like the engine liked it, she always ran better than before for a brief period of time!!!

Mostly depends on what your tires are rated for, and street temps and all that jazz

I live in Germany so in certain places it's un-restricted speed

Why I was asking.....

Since top speed rated is 147 MPH stock, I was wondering how much distance it took to get there.

In about 3 weeks I will run from zero to top speed in a 1-mile distance and receive a MPH printout at the end. Since my truck has the typical mods, I was hoping to ge close to OEM top speed in the 1-mile, but I recognize that they probably used unlimited time/distance to get the 147 MPH top speed.

So that was what prompted me to start this thread. I will report back after the event what I did, and hopefully it does not include blowing it up. Race gas and 15 degrees timing.

We all know that the L will hit over 100 mph under a ¼ mile. I say it will max out in about 3/8 of a mile…
I have hit top end from a stop, using only the highway entrance ramp. I believe that you have to have a tune for a high speed runs!

Wasn’t thire one guy who run an L at 180 mph a couple years ago, and he did it consistently!!!

He ran the 200 mph events.

I think I know what is going to happen, if you floor it and keep the pedal to the floor (for the length of a mile), the engine will go through all the gears and it keep on going, (I done it) the engine will eventually run out of gear, and redline!!!!!!

The engine will then hit the rev limiter (at what 5800 rpm, I’m unsure) and that will cut the fuel pumps, and that’s it, you are done for!!!

The deal will be to hit the top speed and then back off the “WOT” and maintain a RPM of lets say “5600” or slightly higher (it will be like driving a manual transmission), if you go over the engine rev limiter range then “that is all she wrote”, you go too low and “you will loose speed”…

I think with the Predator the speed limiter function is adjustable. I think probaly 5500 RPM's in overdrive is plenty fast? Wouldn't that be around 150 MPH give or take?

As far as I know we don’t have a speed limiter on our vehicles, we do have however a rev limiter!! (Maybe program the vehicle to hit 5,500 and to keep it there!!)

I think I have hit over 155 mph, however I have over size rear wheels Nittos 315 … and I was using the digital odometer as a speedometer gauge, I was apprehensive looking down at the gauge and driving at that speed, but I do remember at one time it was over 150 something…

The width of your tire won't throw off your speedo reading.

I would suspect thet you would lean out and possably burn a piston. A guy did a prolonged burnout at the rpm max and burt a piston so now his rebuild includes an electric shut off instead of the fuel shutoff.

doing some basic calculations which im sure are not 100% correct due to drag

V^2=Vo^2+2a(S-So)

found the acceleration using the 1/4 mile speed of 102 (googled) then set equal to top speed of 147 ended up with .52 miles or 2741.63 feet
