Top of 2003 lightning dash
On 2003 lightning the top part of dash just right of center looks to be about 8" wide and about 24" long how do i remove this piece is it held on by clips or do i have to remove radio to get it off thanks
????
If your talking about the surfboard looking thing,,it just pops off.
Just get something under it and pull it up so you can get your hand in there and pull straight up.
It has clips that just snap down.

I like Neal's better anyway.

HI!... Ya mine was pretty cheap. SVTSTEVE2 here gave me the dash top for free. I then bought a 05 WRX STI Autometer triple gauge pod, and trimmed it to fit. A buddy of mine that does custom sub boxes and stuff did the rest. I think total was like $250(CAN).
I would rather have them built in,,but for now I just stuck them up there.

That surfboard you are going to try to fiberglass to is actually very bendable rubber. If you were to remove this part after the truck sat in the sun you could bend the part in half like a noodle. Bonding anything to it and thinking it won't crack down the road is almost impossible.
You will also learn once you apply fiberglass over the rubber surfboard it will warp from the heat as it cures. There is zero rigidity to the part.
I hope they make it with clips if they plan on making it thin like there pillar pods. Once you install gauges, it will be top heavy and be a nice flying object in your passenger's face during a collision. Mine was heavy urethane and over 1/2" thick in parts with the oem mounting tabs molded into the pod. I'm actually done making these so really don't care either way. But, will be interesting to see how they solved several issues I had to deal with.
