Now Ford can start voiding warranties to avoid fixing things like leaking intercoolers ect….

Can you see my point now?

Don’t answer this post.

LOL. Do you really think Ford is going to read this very small cross section of information and come up with a new directive for its dealers? Do you have any idea how many SVT and Lightning sites there are? Do you have any idea how many posts are made about Lightnings and SVT in on any given day? This has been going on for a long time and there has been lots and lots of info posted about putting a chip in these trucks.

Do you also know that you can put a chip in a lot more things than a Lightning? I know they work pretty well in an Explorer. Oh cr@p now that little secret is out as well.

Oh wait, I think someone is trying to hack into my web server. I'll bet it's them. Oh no, their on to me.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, yeah right...

Rick, as sad as it sounds, it's true. Ford does have people who's job is to do nothing but comb the websites. They do read everything that is said. They also gather information on certian things they may feel useful. Ford DID void the powertrain warrenty on my 99 when I ordered the third motor for it. It wasn't my fault that my intercooler dumped antifreeze into every inch of my motor (yes I have photos of this), but Ford decided that since I do testing with the truck, they shouldn't have to warrenty it. They also had a 2 inch stack of papers printed from the web, of stuff pertaining to me and my truck. Fortunately it was proven that my motor failure was caused by the intercooler problem, and with A LOT of fighting, I got my warrenty back. Ford is probably reading this right now. Hopefully they will be more mercifull to me the second time around . But yes, these things are true.

Sal - I know they read most if not all of this stuff. I also know that my web site has been visited (I've seen it in the logs). You are in a little different situation than most in that you develop and market products for the L. I could understand how that might raise some concerns for them. It has always been interesting to me that you get different answers on what mods are ok or not from different dealers. I guess the guys that have admitted to using oil other than what is recommended are headed for trouble as well.

I knew what the problems might be before the very first mod I made. Bottom line is there are risks to everything. If it breaks and it's my fault then I'll take care of it myself. They shouldn't try to BS their way out of fixing something that has been documented as a problem (intercooler) that has nothing to do with a chip.

If someone has a concern with putting a chip in their truck then they shouldn't do it. But to not do it out of fear that someone might be watching is just plain interesting. JMHO.

LOL..I have a chip for every leaky intercooler replaced on my truck

But seriously...there is more than enough information for this here in just the last month to help you decide if you should or shouldn't chip. As you can see, JL,PSP,JDM are all represented here.So take your pick...and dont be surprised if you buy another one for YOUR collection.

As for FORD reading this board...LOL You know they enjoy doing it But why dont they ever answer us?? hhmmmmm....
