You have to read my post, no way JL made over 25-30 rwhp with a street chip.

The PRO-M 80mm MAF is crud as a bolt on, can you tune it for better, yes I have the dyno results not 1 hp more. The new Ford 90mm will give you about 6 -10 hp max.

Now if you want to play with race gas and advancements that if you noticed no one will attest to, then yes 30 -40 RWHP drag chip can obtain this.

This is bull if you say you're making 40 more RWHP and the next fellow flips his chip to street and you both have to fill up a chevron for a street race, who exactly has how much hp now?

So a lot of people are making 400 RWHP and are only tieing my 360 (real) RWHP custom chipped non MAFed 99 L.

Why is this, it's symantics. Whos running 18-25 psi RWtp, race gas, softer rear sub on the street?

I'll state it again the 01's are nothing special, nor is my 99. It's really hard to tell a stock 01 from a poor running 99 from the *** o meter 2001.

1/2 truck sould be considered a total kill by some DA's, but it's not like BA spinning them totally down the track and only pulling a 11.4 with about 420-440 RWHP. You're chiped L is NOT from that planet.

I'm not quite sure where you are getting your info from Dark Horse, but you might want to change sources. I've dynoed plenty of trucks, that make over 380rwhp with bolt ons. Hell, my own 99 made 410rwhp the week before the WFC, and my truck was all bolt ons. Sure, tuning on the dyno will get you more power, but even our mail order chips are getting 99-00 owners 30-40 rwhp.

2001s are a bit different. They come from Ford already much leaner than the 99-00s, that's where the extra 20hp comes from. I've dynoed several 01s, and stock I've seen them as low as 330rwhp and as high as 347rwhp. Our 2001 chip adds about 30 rwhp and that alone gets you close to the 380 range.

The one thing that you said that WAS true, is that the 01s don't run any better than the 99-00s with the same mods. Like I said, the extra power on the 01s comes from the factory calibration, NOT the 01 intake. Put the same mods on a 99 and an 01, and the truck will make about the same power. Hope this helps.

Hey Dark Horse,
My 01 dyno'd at 390.1 rwh and 510.7 lbs. of torque using the dyno jet. My truck also has JL's street chip, Jl ram-air, PSP lwr pully,& Flowmasters. If I could send my dyno sheet to someone so that they could post it, I will. I am not one to argue, But I am just telling you that you are "dead wrong" .

hey nminor
send it to me at trm6346@yahoo.com and I'll post it for ya.
I'm having mine tesed at the dyno jet tomorrow, so I'll be posting those sheets too soon.
Sounds like you've got a few more mods that I do, but those numbers are right in there where they should be with the new programs out there.

Sal,

This thing all started out by someone saying that they got 392 RWHP from a 01 with only a chip!

I don't beleave it.

So in my defence I state that there are SOME guys with all the bolt-ons that don't make 385 RWHP. I never stated that SOME lightnings with every bolt CAN NOT make more. The highest non-NOS that I've seen made about 440 RWHP, but we all know how he did that one.

Next in my defence I stated that I don't think that a already leaned out 01, can make more than about 25 RWHP, on a street program and only that one mod.

While I keep seeing RWHP figures no one will tell if that HP was made on a street or strip program. Even you admit 30 RWHP, fine but with what exactly, street or strip.

I suspect most tuners would report the highest RWHP possible, hence a strip program.

I don't think that was tring to flame anyone, just that not all facts are being reported.

JL I had the superchip it's self reburnt for a 90mm MAF so I don't know if this sticker is yours or not? This could be a JDM sticker.

I wonder why this thread went dead?

It was so alive at one point?

I think that this could of led to a conclusion to a lot and I mean a lot of misconceptions on this board.

There are no 392 RWHP chips!

All 99 – 01 are basically equal, given equal mods.

This was a great opportunity to explore 01-intercooler reliability issues and not the myth that they’re responsible for 20 RWHP.

Most if not all post strip dyno RWHP if given a chance. Why is this? I saw this from day one, so I assume everyone else isn’t fooled by this mis-advertisement.

Denial?

Yours was my 3rd chip and I would say dam good, but at the time you didn't support a 90mm MAF.

You still don't, support a superchip 90 MAF, do you?

You should of supported your old customers with your new product if possible. Even a co-existence with a 3rd vender would have possibly brought more supporters, IMO.

Either way I still have your RAM air on.
