They probably used the good grade of diesel, instead of the cheap stuff, or something

Lightningquick brings up a good point.How much did the suv really weight.BTW your right about the tq. figures with 400 h.p., the tq on that was probably closer to 675 lb/ft.

The MPH is way off, but the 1/4 mile time is possible. There's a Dodge with a Cummins 5.9 that runs 11's with 600HP & 1200# torque. Diesels tend to run about 2-3 times torque vs. HP. This Excursion probably has at least 800-900 ft.#. Hypermax claims 500HP & 1000 ft.# on their Excursion. My 225 HP Cummins has 520 ft.# of torque, at 1600 rpm! max rpm on mine is 2700. A 500-600 HP semi engine puts out 1600-1850 ft.# STOCK! If you took a built powerstroke or Cummins, & installed it in a Lightning, Traction would be a thing of the past. Lloyd
