Keypad - Easier than you think
Great post! This is what I like seeing on these message boards.
If our parts dept at work would get their heads out of their rectums, I would see how much my employee discount will help out. Right now they are telling me this part isn't available...
And YES Brooks, I'm going to nag at them again tomorrow!

I ordered YL3Z 145626 AA for the pad
and XL1Z 7822405 BAH (black) for the handle
The FMC OR SPO is just a Ford letters doesn't really mean anything as long as you have the letters and numbers that follow.
The XL1 is for the Expedition and I'm pretty sure that the XL3 represents the F250 heavy duties
The code that was received in your packet is the code that the white box under your dash would use if you had a key pad.
I'm guessing that it is cheaper to have one wireloom that fits different models than to have each model have a specific loom

I used YL3Z-14A626-AA. It was not long enough but still works.
clonetek posted XL3Z-14A626-AA.
DJY posted XL1Z-14A626-AA.
I would take all 3 numbers to a dealer and try and get a ruling as to which one is which. As a last resort, find out what vehicles they go on and then measure the door width. Use the one with the wider door.

The correct code for the pad will be as Toyman says eventhough it was not long enough by an inch or two. I had ordered the XL1Z14A626-AA, the pad came with a wire length of 6" The wire length was about a foot and a half too short. I had to re-order and still waiting.

My guess would be that the 99's do have the plug. Go for it anyway and be surprised at installation when you discover that it does.

Did the XL1Z-14A626-AA have a plug at the end of the 6" pigtail? I went by the dealer again and the parts guy looked it up on his June edition of micro fiche and told me that part was for a 1999 F-150/F-250. He said the diagram did not show a plug.
I also asked him about the YL3Z-14A626-AA and he said it was not on his fiche. He said it might be on the July fiche when they receive it.
In thinking about the holes to plug the clip in, I am going to drill new holes closer to the plug so I can clip it in to the door. I think it is ok the way I have it now but might as well complete the job in a professional manner. I will post photos after I make the mod.
The parts guy did re-inforce the fact that the YL3Z-14A626-AA is the right part number for our trucks.
I am still cutious if the 1999 L's have the plug in the door. ANYBODY looked yet???

XL1Z-14A626-AA is for a 2000 Expedition. The code that you used is for an F-series.
The total length of the wire that I ordered with the connector was 7"
Way too short. That is why I re-ordered with the code that you used.

I guess the old saying applies here "a man with 2 watches never knows what time it is".
Asking 2 different dealer about these parts gets 2 different answers.
The bottom line here is that YL3Z-14A626-AA works for the L and is long enough to reach the plug. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case.
