Gilberto B-
If the diff (in quality) between these brands is significant,,, I want the good stuff. I have enough money..... But I don’t need a show quality system.
Lets put it this way... I want to have money for other mods so what kind of system could I get for around $1200 (including installation)... what would you guys get?
Oh... And what about a new head unit? Will the change in sound be worth the $, and risk of theft?

The brands i listed above are great brand names. You can see what is hot at www.audioreview.com. Go to the message boards for car audio. If it was me, I would go with some Polk MOMO's in the doors, JL 10 W3's in the back, and Pheonix Gold amps. Ahh, and as for the head unit I would check Clarion out.

Alpine Ai-Net, Dynaudio speakers, MTX 2300 and (2) Alpine 3549's amplifiers. It ain't cheap and it sounds even better.

System integration design in progess... (I've had $5000 worth of stereo equipment sitting in my closet or a year now ) and yeah, there's gonna be one hell of an alarm!

Question

ok.... I was looking around at the JL website and I think the 10W3 is for me. But one question... it says they are dual 2 ohm, dual 4 ohm, and dual 6 ohm???? What does this mean? Is the dual 2 ohm the same thing as a regular 4 ohm sub? Im pretty sure these will be good for t-form,, am I right? If I get these it will bring my sub total(no
pun intended) to $507,, sound good for my lows? Thanks again guys.....

It means dual voice coils. thats all stuff you need to know for the load on the amps. that also give you the fexibility of running different amounts of subs. I have three W's in my truck and there the dual 6 ohm coils. then depending on how you aire them up.

how many do you want to run. If you want help on this, I will help you. I have been doing stereo installs for 4 years now and I know the good stuff from the crap.

so how much bass do you want.

This would be a nice setup for you:

Headunit: really depends on what you want, ther all pretty good, but get something with atleast 4 volts of pre out.

front door speaker's: tyhe kicker 5x7 impulse's. $300.00. I have those in my door and they sound really good. they come with a crossover and they are actually a seperate, but built with a bridge to keep them together. also the tweeter swivels on them.

Subs: one sub is good for most people, two is a nice setup and three is just loud. I would not go with a W3 though. I used to run the W6's in my last car and I think they are allot better of a sub, if you have the power to run them. if you just want medium power, then go with the W3's. probably two fo them would be good.

Amp: this is where it gets expensive, depending on the loudness, and quality of the sound you want. I would either suggest a pheonix gold zx475 amp, or a pheonix gold XS 4600. the 475 will be much more powerful and will have a cleaner sound. the 4600 will still work awesome and to the regular listener it will be hard to tell the difference on the quality, but the power will be allot different. I'm not sure, but the 475 should do about 4X75 at 4ohms, and 4x150 at 2 ohms, I have the older model 450 and it makes some power. now the 4600 doea about 4x50 at 4 ohms and 4x100 2 ohms. the 475 is about $750.00 and the 4600 is about $500.00.

let me know what else you need to know about.

Thanks Killa...
Is the MTX 500D amp no good? If I can get my two subs at 2 ohms, will this amp not give enough power? Cruthfeild has this amp for $499,, and I found it for $339 @ onlinecarsterio.com,, Sounds like a bad *** deal, 500w at 2 ohms, how will that handle a pair of W3s? Remember, I want $ for other mods,, and Im not really into stereo stuff, so $300 for speakers made me bite my tongue. So maybe a down grade.....
