Important question about strait pipes
Just unbolt your factory muffler(save it for, nevermind just toss it out cause you will not put it back on), and the muffler shop can bend some straight pipes to fill in the difference, then bolt the tips back on. If you don't like it you still have the factory "stuff". It is a truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I and I forgot to say ,about $150, the most inexpensive way to go.............

No feelings hurt here. I'm always up for others inputs. Not sure how this affects performance for sure, just what I've seen when I ran the other stock L. It was my first mod so I have no times to compare it to. Even though mine is a rough (not mandral bent) prototype, it might bring about a better flowing bolt in x pipe for mass production and marketing. There has been many articles written about the benefits of H and x pipes. Any other ideas or people who have the tools willing to capitalize?
Just bought a new Digi Cam..once I get the hang of it, I'll post the pics I have of my Straight pipes...damn reader is giving me hell... By the way, if anyone cares, my mom says she hates "what I've done to my exhaust." I keep feeding her the line, "The exhaust just got settled, that's all"
And yes, i'm one of those L owners that still live at home...but I pay for my truck 100%

Not to go into a lengthy discussion about X-pipes (go to http://www.drgas.com), yes they work. The bad thing is that they would have very little effect after the cats on a Lightning with no mufflers. Essentially the cross-over allows the exhaust pluse to go to the pipe with the least amount of gas flow. Since all the restriction is up stream, there would be no HP gain from an X at the end of the exhaust system. Dr. Gas suggest putting it as close to the headers as possible, after the optimal collector length has been reached.
BUT! The sound may be changed considerably. I wouldn't expect any HP out of it though.
