why do all you guys think.
i have beat a lot of lightnings with my 98 T/A.everytime they say they are 4500 lb.well my car is 3800 with no gas in it.that is 700 lb only.and the lightning has 360 to 380 hp.my car was 300 rwhp stock.lightnings are 340 to 345 rwhp.that makes up for the 700 lb.i do like the lightning.i just have had heard to much bull shi!.my car is now like 360 to 380 rwhp so if i run a lightning it is not a even race.i have more power.i don't race them any more because of that.the last time i did i was stock.do you think this is right for them to bring up after the race.i line up with mustangs and i have like 500 to 600 lb more they do,and i still win.i have lost to a mustang with a blower.not by much.
If your 98 T/A is 3800 with no gas in it you're hiding lead elsewhere, lol. I've drove my friends 98 T/A M6 at Rockingham Dragway.(13.22@108.2,2.09 60ft) With me in it(205lbs) it was 3630 with 1/8 tank of gas. My 99 Lightning with me in it/hard tonneau cover was 4820 on the same scales.
Bottom line,a LS1 will smoke a L from a 50-60 roll.(talking in stock form here) From a dead stop a L might do okay till 70-80 or so. Of course this varies whether it was a A4 or a M6 LS1 too. Lots of varibles in racing.
I like both the Lightning and the T/A. Hope to add a LS1 to the collection soon.

Since someone so graciously put this to the top, I thought I might as well add fuel to the fire.
It just so happens I raced a 98 T/A. I only have one video left because you couldn't see me in the the other one we taped, thats how bad it was.
It was a 3 lane road, and we were lined up like this:
99L----98T/A----00TypeR
My camera was in the 00TypeR. Can you imagine how it turned out?
When the light went green, needless to say, he spun out.
99L-

-----98TA-

-----------00TypeR
thats what it looked like at 30-35.
At 80 or so it was more like this (each "." representing a carlength or so).

The movies being filmed at night time didn't help much, and it really looked like a race between the 98TA and my friend in the TypeR so we erased it and put another better race in its place. We had him in the left lane, me in the center, and the TA in the right lane. It was filmed much better. He quit talking his ****. And he hasn't helped me get very many races.
It took me off the line, and that had me a little worried. I caught up and it was neck and neck in first, and through 2nd gear I pulled his front bumper to my door, and when third grear came around, I pulled even harder, and put some distance between our bumpers.

When I uploaded the movie, I was told it was an 00 T/A only to be corrected, and it is indeed a 98 T/A.
BTW, I tipped the scales at 5040 pounds with half a tank of gas, me (160) and 3 sandbags.
That guy was so confident he could win, they were laughing at me. I heard them snickering when I was walking back to my truck. Ohwell, they refuse to line up with me anymore.

speaking of that,
I had to "jump start" a new white TA at the car wash the other day after he washed his engine compartment, we got it started and after it warmed up (it sounded nice)
we talked then we said our goodbyes.
we were both heading on to the highway onramp and were just about to pull on the Highway and he pulled off quickly..w/Hazards going. I am sure he loves his car also Kevin, I could not stop again where I was, I enjoy the Lightning, there dependable and great looking.

it is a ls1 not the 3800,they never have put a v6 in a T/A.it is 3800 lb.i have a box with 3 10" subs and amps+a roll bar in it.and it an auto.i ran a 13.34 stock on stock tires.i spun off the line.with some drags on it would be in the high 12s.i have not ran this year at the track.i think i can pull a 12 to a 12.15 all day now.i DO have a 97 f-150 4.6 with a powerdyne.so i do like ford.i could go a get a lighning any day if i want to.once my truck is payed off i will.that way i have some money to use.and i will sell the powerdyne to,and put it down on it to.so it my only cost me like 20,000 or so.and by then my T/A should be way down on the loan to.then it goes in on the king of gm,THE ZO6!!!!!i am not tring to start a fight with everyone.i just hate the bull from some of them.a race is a race.i have beat a 2001 or maybe it's a 2000 gt with mt truck, buy a foot only.boy were they pissed off at me.i think they went back to the dealer and said we are going to get a gm.that car dealer does not like me now.i think i cost him a sell.a lot of my friend have lintnings.

I just thought I'd reserve that handle for later this summer when my 66 Chevy is up and running.
Anyhow, I put all sites that have kill vids in my sig, and put links up from my site to all those places.
kevin 3636, check out all my vids, or the pictures atleast. I even updated my sig incase things like this happen in the future. No chip, and all but a few of the races I had my muffler off.

[troll bull on ]
I havent been to the track but my vehicle makes a LOT of power and I think I should be in the low 9's on street tires......
Then I woke up and realised I was all talk....

"it is a ls1 not the 3800,they never have put a v6 in a T/A"
actually they did put a 6 in a trans-am, and it was fast and it was good, and it would be worth more than your ls-1 if you can find a low milage one in good shape

Let me shine a little light for the ignorant one.....On my way to work the other day....minding my own business...as usual..new C5 vette pulls beside me...he goosed it alittle...i let him goose it two times.....I accelerated and left him quickly.....seen the front of his car rise and fall in my rear view mirror so i knew it was a 6 speed...I noticed that he was getting farther and farther behind me......wow i thought....so i slowed down at a noticable rate let him get beside me again.....I repeated the same thing...now...you tell me i have a slightly modded truck and left a sports car???? He stopped at a gas station and I followed him...he acted ****y.....like most GM owners...so i proceded to tell him he should have saved himself $10000 dollars and had the towing abilities to boot......

The one and only time I got a WS-6 to race me was from a rolling start at 55 on the highway. We were even until around 95 where he started to creep up on my...by 120 were were nose to nose...then we hit more traffic.
He was faster, yes, but did not "smoke" my truck in any fashion... I'm almost fully stock too, with a ProM being my only engine mod.
