the rwhp is right.they do make from 285 to 300.a ws6 can go from 295 to 315.i have seen a ws6 do 320 stock at the rear wheels.go to ls1.com and see for yourself.ask around on the power people make stock.i got a good one.my friend had a 99 ss,it was 306 at the rear.and he was mad he didn't get at least 315.they ss and the ws6 have 15 more fly hp.but gm said my car is 305at the fly.they lie about the numbers.and they just say a ss and ws6 have 15 more hp.and sometimes they do.but they are the same motor.just an diff. exhaust.the ram air does not show up on a dyno.AND i have a ws6 hood to.so my friend got 6 rwhp from his exhaust.

I am afraid that English has become a dead language. Here in Lost Angeles they teach what the locals refer to as "Spanglish", a combination of Spanish and English. Spanish has become the de-facto language here, however "Rap-Jive", which I believe our friend Kevin speaks a derivative of, is gaining acceptance through out the country, especially in the internet community. In the end though all of America will eventually speak a combination of Spanglish and Rap as the entire population will eventually become a homogenous mixture of White / Black / Mexican races, with 98% of the population illiterate and completely preoccupied with reality TV wrestling.

Hey Kev, I think you are mistaken on both counts my friend. Most every T/A and SS/Z28 I have driven or seen weights closer to 3500lbs and have RWHP closer to 310 or some even 320, and that is here in the crappy *** air of Oklahoma. A stock F-Body and a slighty modded Lightning are going to be the closest race.
Yet we have had this fight once before on a local FBody board here in OKC. And just like I told them, you take any FBody and any Lightning that have close to the same RWHP, and then weight them. Then take about 1200lbs - 1500lbs and put them in the back seat of that FBody, or hell hook up trailers to them both and see who wins then.....no contest bro. BUt of course, no one thinks that is fair then when you make them exactly even.

Ok I got the solution to this thread.

The LS1 is a great motor and Z's and T/A's are great cars. Fast for the claimed rearwheel horsepower, but those figures are wrong. A stock LS1 motor should do around 285 to 290 rear wheel's. thats a dynoed figure on a friends car that went 13.3's bone stock.

Now you have the lightning, A pickup truck that owns that class of vehicle but tends to drift over into sports car world because no other trucks poss a threat to us. Well with that said the stock 99/00's do around 335 to 340 rear wheel, from what people have claimed on here and various sites. You got a 700 to 800 pound difference in weight and the general rule of thumb for slower vehicles at the track is for ever 100 pounds, you should gain about .1 tenths. but for ever 10 more hp you shoulg gain .1 tenths.

so the L gets a .7 tenths bonus making it an 13.0 about with a 13.7 stock run. The LS1 get's a 12.8 run.

i'm back,and i have a story to tell.i lined up with a 99 lightning last night.the lightning had a mass air,headers,t-converter 3200 stall,KaN fipk,superchip,high flow cats and an exhaust.we ran 5 times.i did win but it was only by a car.he has very cool about it.we even had a rolling start from 20 mph to.this guy was 26 years old .he wan't to race some more with his et's on the truck.he said he ran a 12.5 on stock tread.this is the fastest one i have seen with out nos. on it.and he is going to put a 100 shot on. i think he was a drug dealer.asked if we wanted to do a line with him sometime.he is cool but i think i will just talk to him at the race track only.the way he talked after the race was cool.he didn't bring up the hp diff. or any thing.i don't know if this was a 12.5 truck for sure,but it was very fast.
