2001 Lightning Superchip
To all 1999, 2000, & 2001 Lightning owners:
The Superchip for the 1999, 2000, & now the 2001 Lightnings as well is available in 3 different configurations, in addition to any custom programming needed:
1.) Single-program Superchip, with the Street & Strip performance program, which will add 32-36 rear-wheel horsepower. You do not have to drag race to enjoy this program, it works just as well for conservative daily driving.
2.) 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, set up with the Street & Strip performance program in Position 1, and then in Position 2, it's tuned for 98+ octane racing gas, for those who are drag racing or who just want maximum power on racing gas. To select which program is used, simply flip the attached switch.
3.) 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, set up with a combination of programs that allows you to do everything the Lightning was designed to be able to do from the factory, including towing up to the factory 5000 lbs. limit. (This is the most popular application for most Lightning owners, simply because you can still do everything you can with the stock Lightning, only better). In Position 1, the program is set up for a mild engine tune that can be used for towing, or as a reduced power mode should you get a bad tank of gas, or just want to let someone else drive the vehicle. It has all the normal improvements to automatic transmission shift characteristics, transitional limiter removals, etc. in addition to a mild power gain, safe to tow up to 5000 lbs. Then in Position 2, it's the Street & Strip performance program that can be used all the time, except for towing.
These programs all have very safe A/F ratios, to properly protect the supercharged Lightning engine.
Custom programming is also available for any of the Lightnings, and is required for major mechanical modifications: changing the mass airflow meter (this isn't a "major" mod, but is very important as it changes A/F & controls the basic load signal for the engine), increasing boost by more than 2-3 PSI, running nitrous oxide, ported cylinder heads, camshaft changes, etc. Also if you change the rear gear ratio, we can compensate for that to correct shift points & also speedometer error.
The types of modifications you can do and *not* need compensation with a custom program are generally: K&N air filters, airbox elimination kits such as the Airaid, etc., & cat-back exhaust system changes.
We have had an online ordering system for the Superchip available right here on F-150 Online for the past few years, and this can be accessed by following the link just below in our signature line.
Should anyone desire more detailed information, please contact us at our number listed below, and we'll be happy to speak with you about your Lightning.

Mike does the 01 chip make the same HP as the 99-00'S? Do you have a dyno graph of an 01? I'm in the hunt now for a good safe chip that provides maxium horsepower for my ordered 01 L.

Hi Mike:
Nice to see you back on the lightning thread again after a long absence. Sounds like things are going well with Superchips.
I forgot to mention in our E-Mail exchange about my Lightning Killer 92 Town Car that I am still running my July 1999 version Superchip in the Lightning. That's the one that gave me 29 rwhp with zero relearn time on back to back dyno runs and used to ping like hell on winter gas. Guess an additional 11K miles of relearn got it to accept the winter gas as I don't get the ping anymore and of course the truck just gets stronger all the time.
While off topic, I think I may go with a supercharger and GT heads and stuff with the TC. I may never beat a Lightning for real, but I should be able to kill Northstars (maybe low 14's????). I will order the chip next week.
Bill

He Mike,
Needless to say, the chip is just great.
Installed the new Superchip Flip chip for the 2001, drove 620 Miles, no pinging no detonation, just perfect. The truck felt very fast. Multiple times, driving about 45 Mph and pushing the throttle all the way and I was feeling lots of wheel spin.
After 620 miles went to the strip.
Results Amazing!!!
Times before the chip: 13.44@101.63 - 13.61@101.21 - 13.57@101.44
Times with the chip: 12.66 @ 110.22 Mph - 12.69 @ 108.32 - 12.86 @ 105.01
The entire ¼ mile times where done in the street program with 96 octanes
I think without drag tires you cannot use the race program with 100 or more octanes.
I am pretty sure I reached the limit of the F1 tires.
Congratulation Superchips, Tremendous job. I had a hard time to believe it myself.
Btw I have now 3650 Miles on the odo and the chip is not only fast butt very reliable. (What a blast unbelievable)(And for the non believers time slips will be posted soon)

THANK YOU MRBBQ !!!! I'm sorry, but you're not going to pick up 9 mph and 8 tenths from just a chip. That is a 75 to 85 horsepower and Ford didn't leave that much on the table. Sorry track times only please!!!!

Ok,we all know that a chip cnnot give those kind of mph #s but I gotta say you never know with the times.Although I know for certain his #s are off I would like to point out that with just a chip filter I went from 13.9s to 13.1s and 2s consistant and even ran 1 12.9 .
And for another point,I am waiting for a JL chip and his air intake and I am pretty confidentr that with those two items,My truck will be running 12.8s and 9s consistant.(i hope so or i will be kinda disappointed )Im sure the mphs will bea round 105 though
