Post running boards on an L? Solves seat wear?

I've read that the seats are wearing out pre-maturely; now that I have bought my L for over a month, I too noticed that the long "stretch" to get in and out would wear down the corner of the driver's seat prematurely.
Would running boards solve the problem? Has anyone pictures? Would running boards look good on an L? I have running boards on my Expedition and they are a great asset.

Look fine as long as they matched the chrome naked ladies on the mud flaps.

Cool

I think these trucks were designed to be driven with the seat all the way back. Mine is 18 months old and just has a small black streak on the driver seat bolster that disappears with a brush of a finger.

I CONSIDERED STEP BARS OR BOARDS FOR MY 01, AND I HAD SOME NICE BLACK ONES READY TO BE INSTALLED BY DOWNTOWN FORD IN CANTON OHIO BUT, IN ORDER TO INSTALL THEM YOU HAVE TO CUT ALOT OF THE PLASTIC SIDE FLAIRING AWAY TO INSTALL THE MOUNTS, AND I SAID NO WAY!!. SO I'LL LIVE WITHOUT BOARDS.---JIM

1. The ground effects won't allow a standard set of running boards or tubular steps.

2. Even if you fabricated longer brackets to allow for the ground effects, they would be too close to the ground.

3. WHAT, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F**KING MIND?j/k

Wink

I usually just wear one of these on my left foot. it brings the ground up quick, so i don't look stupid, getting in and out of the truck or something

A Lightning with running boards would look like socks on a chicken. I would certainly rather have a ragged and shagged out seat bolster than drive around for years in a Lightning with running boards. Oh, by the way, this MUST be an early April Fools joke.

meiwah:

This was actually one of gentlest flames I've seen for a suggestion like that.

We must be getting soft in our old age...
