Does that year have the LT1 or was that the limited build LT4? Even if he knows how to drive it, you should win (I say should, but then again, that LT4 atleast in the Vette was underrated). Don't be surprised if it is close though. I have an 96 LT1 A4 Vette. When I bought it used the L was definitely faster. But, I had a bad optispark in it. Once I replaced it, I have run 13.6-13.7's in it at the track. My L runs 13.5's at the same track with chip and filter stock it ran 13.8's, so stock to stock my Vette was faster---contrary to what all the L owners talk about the Vettes. One note, my Vette runs really really strong for a stocker.

What I say about the Vettes are on the street. The torque our trucks have at idle throgh redline is unbeleivable.

You will donminate the first 1/8 mile, and then he will be playing catch-up. How's your traction? If its questionable put some sandbags in the bed. It depends on how well tuned his car is.

It should be a good race.

It all depends on which exhaust system he has. If he has the SLP exhaust other wise known as the "Slow Lane Package" the L will surely win!!!

From my experience with racing tundra I'd say you should win. I have a pretty much stock LS1 SS and tundra gives me a damn close race. The LS1 is much more powerful than the LT1 so that should give you the advantage you need. But then again tundra seems to be running much lower times than most L owners, so hard to say. If you throw some sand bags in the bed I'd say you pretty much have it won. No weight in the back and he might win.

I speak from experience. Definitely race him from a stop! I know the Lightnings at the track last week were running in the high 12s. My best time ever is a 13.375. That was run 3 weeks ago on my first visit and first run ever at a track. Last week, I just couldn't hook up to save my life. I even ran a fricking 14!! On the way home, we drive past the 2 Lightnings. Well, they must've seen my times and, well, you know. My friend and I both race them twice on the interstate and it was no contest. My 1st run we started at a 20mph roll and the 2nd run we started at 40mph. Good luck! Here's a pic of my friend and I goofing around before meeting up with the Lightnings:

I must say that the Lightning guys were very cool! I'm still trying to hunt them down.

Ted

The best I saw any LT1 run last year was a 14.40 1/4 mile. I'd say you've got him.

ok, im the one with the SS who is gonna race him. its an lt1 6 spd. i never ran my car at the track, he ran the L and got a best of 13.9. my car does have that 2 pipes on the left slp exhaust for anyone wondering. the power programmer is not in it right now, the car feels slower with it in, if that makes any sense, but maybe im wrong. he used to have a 97 lt1 auto SS, which he got a best of 14.0 at the track, and i used to able to beat him in a race on the street. with that said, i assume my car runs 13.9? then he got a 98 black ls1 6 spd SS, that mine wasnt as fast as. but anyway it is gonna be a good race. whoever wins, it will only be by a nosehair, unless a miss shifting into 3rd gear. later guys, Mike P.S. YELLOW00, YOUR MAKING ME WANT A VETTE NOW!! damn, that baby is pretty!!

If the 98 LS1 car wasn't as fast as a stock 97 LT1 car, then either 1) something was wrong with the '98 or 2) you have a very fast and unusual LT1.

Hopefully, you'll win... And then he'll get a $250 chip and run 13.0-13.2s on radials...and beat any LS1/LT1 that is remotely close to stock (in the 1/4 mile).

00 Camaro SS M6 with lid and 1-4 skip shift mod

Low 12 second eagle talon.

70 Chevelle SS 396, owner works at an auto machine shop. Hate to say it, but he coudn't get it in first.

We raced a few times, and we argue over who has ben winning the races.

And a few other things, I just got home from tearing it up. My truck is bone stock right down to the air filer. Muffler is on.

Too much to say, Look for a post in a few.

SLPCAMAROSS98: Thanks! I'm actually selling it next week. I'm getting married and we need lots of "equipment" for the new house. Of course I already have "permission" to get a '02 Z06(black) early next year, if things are looking good.

Tundra: I watched the SS race and it seemed after he got the jump on you nobody did anything. I know how you feel. I was getting horrible traction last week at Beech Bend and even ran a 14.3!!!! Talk about embarassing. I didn't feel too bad, because a few runs later, a '99 C5 did a 720!! After wathcing him do that and then confirming that he was running on "run-flats" also, I called it a night. Even on the 2-3 and 3-4 I would get "fishy"......
