Car wash
Those of you that use automatic car washes does your engine get very wet mine does?? Also those who have factory soft cover any way to get rid of the ears in the back corners?? Thanks
You're killin' me man. Your not serious right??? Please tell me you dont let anything thats not absolutely clean and very soft touch the surface of your L, Pleeeease
LOL.
Maybe a no-touch, maybe but i doubt it. I dont think you'll find many who would run an L through a car wash. If you cherish the finish of a nice ride, a car wash is the first way to ruin it. Hand wash, soft soap, "McGuires" or something, soft clean terry or special mits that leave no fine scratches in the clear coat. Then wax, depends on your needs, paste was or a good liq. If you cant do it or dont want to, use hand spray for rinses, NO SOAP. NOOOO BRUSH! OH MY GOD KILL ME. I see this alll the time. Hire a kid or find a hand deal, call dealers, whatever. A little water on the eng shouldnt hurt anything, rinse it once in awhile anyway.
Oh ya, IMHO
The blach tabs are needed to remove and replace the tonnue, it would be very hard without them. The front ones simply hold the rolled tonnue and i suppose could be removed.

I work at a Car-wash... (hey its how i pay for my ride ... daddy's f-250 :-) ) ...
Ive been there for about a year and I've seen some stuff you guys (the general public would be appalled if they saw)
The condition of the equipment, not getting what you payed for etc. is startling. First of all, if you like your antenna's make sure you avoid the cloth car washes. Even if they say soft cloth, you most likely will get tiny scratches on them, and the wraps will eay you antenna alive. My boss has a collection of about 50 from the past 4 months in his office.
Not to mention the blowers and towels that some carwashes use. Hope you like having loose parts blow all over the place, and haveing towels on your windows that are used to clean grease off the floor.
Horrified yet?
:-)
Want more of the inside about the local car wash... ask me !

In summer when the weather is nice I wash the truck by hand, about once a week.
In winter when the weather is cold and nasty, I run it though the car wash once a week. (I do take antenna off)
I have run through the car wash over a hundred times with the truck, and the paint looks just fine. I think it's fun when you go through the blow dry and the wipers start flappin and the roof sounds like it is gonna cave in.
The car wash I go to is nice. Friendly employees all the time. They always use nice clean dry towels to dry the water off with. They always finish with a smile and a wave to let me know they are done.
I don't know about water under the hood, I never look. I can't suppose it would be any worse than just driving the car in the rain.

Car Wash, never!
Sorry guys, i've seen way too much damage done, nobody touches my truck but me and a rare mechanic. A little dirt in the cloth, thats it, your done. Go get it buffed out, but that has limits. I'm in Cleveland, i simply rinse my baby daily at times in the spray wash by hand, no soap. Hand wash and wax when possible, in the winter. My L is my daily, all year, 20k miles a year driver. It's waxed now and not a swirl in sight, works for me
