As long as the work is done 'correctly', I don't have a problem with an 'experienced' mechanic using his knowledge to take a shortcut or two. (Though it sucks to have to come back, because some numbnut damaged something trying to take a bad shortcut, to pad his wallet.) I was just pointing out that it all evens up when you look at the big picture.

Hey guys thanks for the pic of what that recall is and the link to the site to find out if your truck needs it
I thought they had to do something under the dash but with the pic I pop the hood and saw that it was already done by the P.O. Even checked the recall site and was good to good there too
Saved me a trip to the Ford House.

When by my local Ford dealer today. The service writer actually does the mod right there in the service line driveway!
After seeing the ugly piece of wiring apparatus, adding a few comments like "your not putting that on my truck", he entered the work as completed in their system and gave me the fusable link/harness and said I could install it myself. The fusable link/harness is all that came with the fix...no change-out of the actual sending unit!
I cut off all of the factory tags, tye-raps and was able to hide the new fusable link/harness back up under the brake fluid reservior/existing wiring next to the fuse panel. Connected the existing pigtail connector to the end of the harness/fusable link and the new pigtail connector that comes off of the new harness to my existing unit.
Now looks just like it did prior to the mod! Were good to go!
