j-jent lower modded

i purchased a j-jent lower grille to go with my HD upper grille last week. when i installed it i was just not happy with the way it looked. it appeared to be a cheap add-on grille. i felt the biggest reason it appeared cheap was because you could see the polished bar that the grille tubes were connected to. Plus with the HD grille you could only really see the tubes so they did not match. after seeing some pics of people Ls with a modded j-jent lowers i fixed mine. i purchased a tube of black touch up paint, painters tape, prep rag, and a sanding block. i first masked off the tubes on the j-jent grille. then i used the sanding block (has a tapered end to fit between the tubes) and scuffed up the bar the tubes are mounted to. Next i used a prep rag on the bar. the last step was to use the black touch up paint to color in the mounting bar. here is the finished product. i think the j-jent looks 100% better now.

Just did this today as well. I remounted the j-jent grill without the factory plastic grill behind it and I blacked out the vertical bars with electrical tape.
Looks much better

This is on my Harley truck, but I used a peice of aluminum angle and a 3/4" wide peice of aluminum flat to mount it to. My friend did someting similar on his L with the J-Jent lower I could get a pic of his that would help you out more
