Question - F150 Type
GTP - your ignorance continues to amaze. Just because your ****-*** city/state doesn't allow passengers in the bed doesnt make it federal law.
In Texas, the only restriction is that if you have children 12 or younger in the back, you cannot exceed 30 mph. Or maybe its 35.
Also, I love how you jump from discussing your SLOW Durango and SLOW GTP, to "Well you couldnt smoke an LS1..." When did they start putting those in either of your vehicles?
The Lightning is not the be all end all vehicle. But buck for buck, you cant find a faster vehicle that still retains a modicum of practicality to it.
I am in Frisco TX. So if by "Lancaster" you mean TX, feel free to stop by sometime for a reality check.

98Cobra - I would stop by to give you a good ol' fashioned-whippin' from any stoplight, bu, I'm in lancaster NY. But, feel free to challenge some of my buds down there, I'm sure they'll show you a good time when you see their rear-ends!!! Seriously, there are quite a few GTP's that routinely break 13.75, and some guys are talking about getting into the 12's this year. I'm not sure if 12's are a reality, but I am real close to breaking 14. I lose power at around 70mph....but down low, I am all go. I guarantee that I'd stay even with oyu, if not be up on you at 70, but after that, your V8 takes over. Still, if you have a bad run, I win.

Based on your reply to my post, I think somebody's panties are getting a little bunched.
Yep, the truth sometimes hurts. Hope you have lot's of stickers on that ride cause you need all the help you can get.

looking over your qualifications for "ruling", i think "I RULE" because my old dodge truck can outrun all but HighRisks 11 second lightning, out tow any 3/4 ton truck, will hold 5K in the bed, or 20 cajuns going to the parades (legal unless one falls out :littering), as for cornering, you will never make it to the first curve, so i can take it easy after that. So your new name is GTP-Knave, you've been de-moted.

It would be the smartest thing you've done, automotively speaking, in your life. The "L" is USELESS in the winter - light rear end, rear-whel drive, no traction. Yes, you could throw 100 bags of sand in the back, but do you really want to do that? With the GTP you get front-wheel drive and traction control - excellent winter-driving capabilities. </font>

Who are you trying to kid? Next he'll be saying GTP's are better than Ferrari's because ferrari's are bad in the snow.
Just to note...ive been driving my L everyday...all through the winter, snow and all...and I havn't even gotten around to getting snow tires. That's right, the F1's are still on. And I'm in Michigan. Granted it's not ideal, but with a set of good snow tires the truck works perfectly fine in the snow.

Well here is a magazine: one I'm sure we all love and respect; Car and Driver
"The base four-door Grand Prix GTP with a supercharger does the 0-to-60 trick in 6.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in 15.2 seconds at 93 mph. Top speed is a governed 127 mph. Our GTX test car ran just a hair quicker to 60 mph (6.7 seconds) and through the quarter-mile (15.1 seconds at 93 mph). The oversize tires tricked the governor into allowing a 130-mph top speed. This modest increase in performance isn't surprising, as the power has been upped by only 8.3 percent."
Here's the URL http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...andprixgtx.xml
I think that ends this thread. GTP, you are lying, but no longer. The grand equalizer has demoted you to lawn gnome.
You're Durango is nice, but an excursion or any big bore truck'll out tow it. Lightnings were not made to tow crap arund all day, just some of the time. and if you haven't noticed, we're not terribly concerned with towing a whole lot. But, we could at least tow your GTP for a few miles facing backwards withyou standing on the gas WOT. We could do the same to your Durango. Go ahead, I'll hook my hitch up to yours and have a pulloff. Don't get in over your head with your lies here son...you'll get called a gnome every time.
Now:
Get off my Board

he said he can carry 6 passengers in his durango.
i dont know about the rest of you but the bed of my lightning can hold at least 20 people.
and who gives a rats a$$ if that thing can out tow a lightning.
there is no such thing as a towing contest at the race track. (IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE) but it just doesnt happen.
however i have seen cars race at the track and noone has ever argued or BRAGGED about the towing capacity of their vehicle after they lost.
just let the guy say what he has to say and then ignore him.
these things are not suppose to be posted here anyway.
i think some of you L guys that live around that guy should get him to race you while towing 5000 pound each.
both of you hook a 5000 trailer to your trucks and well see what happens.

Durango R/T vs. Tundra and his 99 Lightning]
Durango R/Ts have a nice 0-25, but then its all over. And that wasn't a Lightning you raced.

Kills! More kills!
Hey GTP_rules - this is a Ford site - if all you want to do is trash our Lightnings - then all us Lightning lads should join your Pontiac site so we can trash Pontiacs. How stupid! If you read real close you may pick up something that you could use on your ride. Don't try to pull off that your ride is faster/better than another - your L67 will blow up well before 5200 revs - the GTP 4 dr has more Body flex than a converible Mustang. Have a nice day!
