Thor, here is my VIN# 2FTZF07331CA56255. What's also confusing me is, there was only one other person who ordered a Lightning before me from this particular dealer (Lee Jarmon in Carrollton). As far as I know he ordered a different color (mine was black). When I spoke with Ford over the phone a gentleman named Peter said they were having problems with tire supplies "Firestone". This bugs me because the Ls don't come with Firestones. Then again, someone mentioned they run on the same line as other trucks so if there is a hold up on other trucks wouldn't there be a hold up on Ls?

Thanks for looking into it Thor!

MikeP,
No problem on the vin# I'll get back with you! As for the way the trucks are built on the line. When the line stops at the plant Ford is losing money!

If that Firestone statement were true, and all they had were lightning wheels an tires, they would be going on all the trucks just to get them off the line. Then change them back when the right ones came in!

When I was given the tour they let me pick out my wheels for the truck. They follow the orders on a computer and build them to each vin.

When I walked my chassis down the line to the point where they put on the wheels. They were right on time to go on.

Thumbs up

Thor,
Thanks for checking on my L. This is the longest I ever waited for a truck. The wait is just killing me but in the end I think it will be worth it. I'll be checking for your post on my L.
Thanks again,
david

I talked with SVT today and they told me they are still rolling, and no delays as far as they know.

Thor01, can you help me out as well? Can you check on my order and/or give me the number for the Vehicle Order Processing Center? In December, the dealer gave me my VIN: 2FTZF073X1CA38285. However, they can't/won't give me a BUILD DATE or ETA? I'm getting very frustrated with them. I don't think they are keeping me in the loop like I asked. First they told me it would be here in January. Now they are saying late February.

I'm getting very anxious after driving a 2000. This will be my first Lightning and I can't wait!!!

Anybody have any contact info to get the VIN#, build date, etc. I ordered mine at the end of August, and my dealer (Tommie Vaughn, Houston) said that they wouldn't know anything until at least February 1st.

SurfsUP,MikeP,Undy,
My guy still hasn't gotten back with me from OTP. I was told he might be out sick?
I e-mailed and left a voice mail with your VINS. He's good about getting back with me! Don't worry! I did get ahold of another person and trucks are still on schedule. No hold up on them at all! I would say your dealers are up to something!!! I'll keep you posted when i hear something!

I could be mistaken, but I don't think that your VIN is correct. From what I've got for a VIN, and what I have seen here for VIN's,
on yours, after the F073 that X , I believe should be a # instead of a letter.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thor01,

Thanks a bunch for all your help. I'll rest easier tonight. I call VOPC almost every day and they still tell me my L's to be built the week of 2/5.
I've got several related questions though.

1. My status from VOPC is as of 12/4/00, as
it's always been. Is that unusual that
there's been no recent update. I guess the
mindset behind that is " If nothing
changes why update?"

2. At what point should VOPC update their
info to include the anticipated delivery
date?

3. How do I go about finding out exactly what
date she'll be built.

Sorry to bug you but I know more about the process than my dealer does (that's scary}. My salesman calls me for Lightning production updates and info..LOL

Thanks to this groups' help, I called VOPC and looked up my order by ORDER # and VIN #. I got the same answer so the VIN would appear to be right. Anyway, I'm feeling better now because my truck will be made the week of 1/29 and delivered the week of 2/19.

Undy,
Don't have a clue as to how often they update the VOPC. I call Ontario truck direct.

My dealer had a print out of my build date. It also said 1/15/01. The same as what scheduling told me.

Your date is 2/5/01. That is when the body and bed get built and goes through paint! The truck should be off the line on 2/7/01. The only thing I can do is confirm the build date.

I may be able to get them to tell me when it's off the line. I'm going to have to send those guys a care-package before i wear out my welcome.
