Just wondering if anyone else’ 2001 order got bumped out due to a parts shortage? I spoke with my dealer yesterday to confirm delivery at the end of this month like we had discussed a week ago. Turns out they said now my production date was bumped out from the week of 1/9 to the week of 3/5?!? All because of some parts shortage according to the plant. I called Ford to verify and sure enough it was bumped. Anyone else?

FWIW, I placed my order on 11/4/00 and have my VIN# so far but nothing else. I’m bummed but at least I can put down an even bigger down payment when it arrives. If it keeps getting bumped it’ll be paid off when it arrives….

So I guess this means I can live vicariously through those who receive there’s early!

I'm scheduled to get mine in the next 2 weeks or so. I know it's already been built, so now I'm just waiting.

Seems like if your truck was scheduled to be built the week of 1/9 and they are just now telling you otherwise, something's screwy. I found out on 1/12 that my truck was produced on 1/10. You dealer could check daily on the progress and should've told you earlier. ('Course, you could've checked the progress yourself as well.)

That seems loke a long delay, 2 months holly sh*t.
I just called the Vehicle Order Processing Center and I was told I am still on scedule for the week of 2/19/01 but the info was as of 1/15/01 so who knows. If yours was pushed back till march, when will mine be pushed back to, if my info is not accurate?

 

MikeP - hope your dealer made a mistake and not mine - just got off phone with mine and they tell me no change to my week of 2/5 build date as of this morning - VOPC recording states same -- but then again who knows what evil lurks ......

 

I put order and money down on 9/15/00.I got my vin # and checked it out. My build date is week of 3/5. This is my first Ford truck experience and its draging out wayyyy to long. If they build it in March probably wont see till almost April 1. (and you know what day that is) For all the guys and gals who buy a 2001 it should be called a 2002! What happened to new cars and trucks coming out in the fall...say Oct. That way you get to drive it that whole next year. I cant wait to get my hands on this beauty....I bet its worth the wait. Its like being young again....

 

Dealer and Ford concur that I get delivery week of February 5th...

The concern with over production may be answered by non-production...

I just called VOPC and my buid date is still the week of 2/5. I ordered it on 10/18/00. What gives with some (so far) getting bumped back and some not. We need some inside info on this....hint, hint. SNAFU!

 

I was just at the plant watching mine get built. Wednesday of this week!. It didn't look like there was a shortage of any Lightning parts!!! :cofused:

They had bins of parts and building 6 Lightnings an hour! Est, 48 a day. The plant is on a 8 hr shift at this time.

They didn't say anything about a hold up. Mine was scheduled for the 15th and completed build on the 17th.

Something doesn't sound right. Maybe they,(the dealer)have someone that is paying more for the truck you have on order and re-orderd yours??? If you don't have a VIN# tell them you want it.

Thor, what you're saying has made me worry. My dealer STILL hasn't given me my VIN#. In fact, the only reason I have my build date is becuase I called the VOPC myself! Tomorrow I will be calling him, and DEMANDING my VIN#. I'm also upset b/c I have a current hold on my production, and it was not even set to be built in this month. I don't like waiting, and even worse, I don't like being *****ed around while I'm made to wait.

Get MEAN with that dealer!!
They have no reason for not giving you your vin, unless they plan on giving the truck to a person who's paying more or doing a favor for someone who is in good with the dealer/owner!!

If they don't know you have the vin already, don't say anything!! You can catch the RAT that way! See if he gives you the same number, and if not let loose on his A$$!

It sounds shady! When I was at the plant, they had Lightnings everywhere i looked. I don't know how an order can be bumped once it's in the plant computer?

Once there, it's built in the order it was received when your dealer sends in the order.

I was told an order can get pushed back from parts shortage and or if the body is damaged coming out of body and paint.
