I think this is the third time but it's always pretty neat to be featured. I was just looking at pics of it the other day too. I do miss it.

Having just bought a 300C SRT-8 myself, I can say that it's a fine car -- exceeding my expectations in most respects -- but it can't replace a Lightning.

My Lightning, nasty and uncivilized as it is, is still more fun to drive. I wouldn't even consider selling it.

I just sold my '01 I bought new with 3500 miles about 3 weeks ago. I replaced it with a new Civic Si sedan. The Civic is a lot more fun to drive. Let's face it, an L is a one-trick-pony. It would destroy the Civic straight line, until you get to the twisties. And no, I don't miss the L at all. I should've sold it a long time ago.

Congrats on your purchase, Tim. Mine has yet to let me down. It is much more refined than the Lightning for sure. The lack of available tuning and mega-granny controls is frustrating. I've found that with more seat time I've actually been able to tweak a little more performance out of it based on driving habits alone. It remembers!

I've often said that you can't beat the neck snapping 1-2 2-3 shifts of the Lightning with a FTVB and slightly bumped line pressure. And the gobs of low-end torque make it funner to drive. But the SRT-8 feels a little safer at 100+ than a stock-suspension Lightning. And the Brembos....forget about it.

If you haven't already, checkout these sites for the 300 - 300cforums.com lxforums.com srt8oc.com. Lots of good info out there. Like on C-Tek brake pads!!!! No more dust!!!

You've obviously never been to N GA. The V-tech is slow until about 4500 rpms. 0-60 in 6.4 is no slouch to me. Then again it also gets 32 highway.

oh no i have, but i guess there it has some use, even though i think you would fit in more with an L, and i thought the 6.4 was for the coupe, the sedan has to add weight, and shouldn't you be getting more than 32 highway with a four banger

but hey i don't care

My L goes 0 to 60 in 1.8 Seconds

I aint afraid of no Civic

Ok Dan and Tim you all know thee fastest 8 cyl SRT 8 made is the Super Jeep RIGHT (well for the record if you didnt IT IS ). And your right about the lack of Tuning available for us &@$%(@$&%()@$ well anyway I got my *** HANDED TO ME LAST WEEK from another Black SRT 8 Super Jeep : o () @(&$#%(@$%@($&%@$(

I was like WTF, I raced this guy from 80 to .... I raced him from a roll, and I raced him from a dead stop, SOB ate my jeep everytime @*O$%@)*$#%@$()*%@$)*@$)*@$ Finally I asked a few questions and with an exhaust, filter, and thermostat he's running 12.6 ALL DAY LONG and has the slips to prove it
(even with no tuning or program). My Jeep runs 12.9 - 13.2 100% stock and he was AT LEAST that 1/2 sec faster (maybe more) @$@$&@$(&@$@$

My only complaint is MPG, the jeep gets about 2.6 - 6.0 MPG the first 10 minutes it's started each and everyday (winter spring summer or fall) and of course that kills me going to work and back daily (and home and back for lunch) so on the average I MIGHT get @6-8 during the week, and yes more if I use it on longer trips (once it warms up it gets much better, usually @ 8-12 MPG @ town, and 12-14 on the pky)

No BS the L gets close to 3 times the MPG (hence the reason I use it daily)
My L aint going anywhere either, not this one .....

Rob,

100 shot will net you low 12s all day.

06 SRT - B&G's flashes are getting some pretty good press but JMATT over on 300cforums did some pretty extensive real-time performance testing with it and only netted a tenth or two. And they've only cracked the PCM, not the ECM. Theirs isn't tunable. My car is bone stock and went 13.10 @ 107 in 85 degree weather. It's got a high 12 in it. That's good enough for me.

Take care,

Dan

Simply amazing brakes. I'd like a touch more pedal feel, but they are miles better than any other brakes I've owned.

Why couldn't Ford make the same deal with Brembo? The SRT Brembos are simple floating caliper units that couldn't add more than a few hundred $ to the price.

WOW Dan thats some AWESOME ET'S stock
I guess they pumped the 300C's up from the first yr's performance hu

Man you guys are right on with the Brembo's too (bows) I dont talk about it much but if there is one thing that sticks out with these SRT Beast it's those unfriggingbelievable Brakes. Even now 1 yr after each and everytime I go from the L to the SRT8 I dam near go through the windshield each and every time I hit the Brakes.

They truly are the best all around vehicle's I've ever seen a car company make . You can pick from the Rolls Look a like (like your 300C's) to the Super Jeep 4wd I have (without giving up ET or Performance), to the Viper Super Pick Ups. I can tell you one thing I've had every 4WD known to mankind and this Jeep BY FAR is thee safest and best driving in snow vehicle I have ever seen, driven, owned, or know about.
You CAN NOT under any circumstance get this truck to spin a wheel or lose control, and that includes unpaved parking lots with a foot of snow in them.

The Auto Brakes are a little scary at first, I'll always remember the first time I tried to have some fun in the snow and throw it into a 360, all of a sudden I was coming up to the left turn and I stomped it and turned hard to do it and
BAM the Brakes all of a sudden come on I dam near go through the windshield and I was like WHO THE FK HIT THE BRAKES

I sometimes dont like all the traction, brake, steering, and AWD take control systems they have (it would be nice to be able to do 100ft 4wheel burnouts),
but when I'm in snow or ice or rain I honestly dont think there's a safer vehicle on the planet (not to mention 8 air bags should the ocassion ever occur) My plan was to trade to the Challenger this summer but as you know they held it off one more year so they could build a bigger and badder Hemi,
next year there will be "3" Diff Hemi's available and that Challenger DEF has my name on it, In the mean time 6500 RPM on a Big Block is keeping me satisfied ; o )
