something that i saw that made me puke...
I'm just a hot tempered bast### by nature. It was the water I drank growing up in New York. I'll have to settle on my slower truck till I get a lightning (which will be soon). P.S. I did get my et down to 15.7 so far.

It's all good, Chief. Incidentally, the next time you feel the urge to rip into somebody you don't even know over the internet about some aspect of automobile performance, recall:
There's nothing, I repeat, NOTHING discussed on this site that's remotely worth getting angry over. Really, there isn't. It's just a bunch of Joe (and Jane) Six-Packs talking about a specific make and model of truck. What could be more trivial?
You're running 15.7 with a chip and pipe? I need to pass that on to my bud here in Milford who also has a NASCAR edition. His best ET is around 16.5 in pretty good air (70 degrees or so).
I also grew up in New York (Sandy Creek, to be exact, not that I expect you to know where that is). Where do you hail from?

I hail from syracuse upstate. The run I made the 15.7 was in 65deg weather with the tailgate and spare and bed cover removed and a 1/8 tank o gas. I figure I weighed in under 3800lbs.

Sounds like the chip and pipe paid big dividends. I myself haven't found any benefit from lowering the 'gate - this is a somewhat controversial one over here, I guess.
I grew up about 45 miles north of Syracuse within a stone's throw of I-81. Went to grad school at SU as well - small world.

I started up at SU cause of the lacrosse but ended up joining the military. As for the tailgate I just figured the weight savings by removing it were worth it alone. I'm hoping an airaid fipk will let me drop another tenth off my time alowwing me not to get smoked by the rt's. But most people don't know how to drive their vehicles anyway, so I figure I can hold em off.

As for the tailgate, what you gain in weight reduction you probably lose in wheelspin. I've run side-by-side with my bud at the 'strip and he has more trouble with wheelspin out of the hole than I do. Those narrow-ish, tall Goodyears and the open diff (the main problem) promote a lot of spin, even with the not-so-stout 4.6 Triton. That thing will do a pretty nasty one-wheel-peel.
