Post something that i saw that made me puke...

i pulled into homedepot to buy some more lumber for a project i'm doing and low and behold... a 00' f150 lariat supercrew 4x4!

now what makes it special is that it had Lightning emblems on the side... WTF?????

That gets me super mad; i don't own a lightning (uncle does) and i'm madly obsessed with lightnings and have too much respect for l's to appreciate that sort of vandalism!

come on.... A 4X4 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!

Think of it as the most supreme of compliments. It's always great when someone wants to look, and act like you. And let's up that any "car guy/girl" that races the 4X4 and wins, KNOWS that it's not a real Lightning.

That kind of stuff sucks bigtime! I had a termite guy out at the house this morning. He was driving a v6 F150 reg. cab, had SVT emblems under the F150 on the fender and a Cobra snake emblem near the bottom of the fender. I don't consider it flattery to you Lightning owners or a compliment. All it says to me is they can't afford a Lightning but want people to think they can. They want the attention. I actually saw the guy a while back at gas station. I told him if he thought it was a Svt I would race him then and there and hand him his ****. He wasn't interested of course.

Red face

What I'm upset about is that no one has told me where to get a Rolls Royce Winged Victory hood ornament for my Lightning.

I find it amusing that some of you get your knickers in a knot over such trivia. I'll bet you REALLY want to toss your cookies when you see a babe with a fanny tuck or silicone breasts. I think there are things to legitimately get upset over, like overpopulation and global warming, but stinking badges, I don't think so.

As someone else on this board said, you make the payments, then you call tell the owner how to decorate his truck.

I'm totally NOT DOWN with folks badging their lame vehicles with the good stuff. For example, if you believed the badges, there would be something like 7,892 late-model Cobras in the Cincinnati metro area, and nearly that many Type R Integras.

The worst example I saw was this past summer at the Tri-State Mustang Club all-Ford show at Eastgate (Cincy). There was a fleetside Ranger (yes, Ranger) with ground effects, dual side exhaust, all the badging, and Lightning wheels. He had a custom black paint job with a ton of airbrushed lightning bolts, and the big airbrushed baner on the tailgate "A Little Bit Of Lightning". If I ever see that abomination on the street around here he's going to get "A Little Bit Of Lightning" and then some.

Factory Tech: Were you there with the Sharonville gang? The only 'Bolts I saw were mine, a red Gen 1 (Nick W), and a black one from one of the dealerships towing a Cobra R.

Silver-y2k-svt, you have just demonstrated the epitome of people I can't stand.

Since when has a supercrew 4x4 been a lame vehicle! Sorry to burst your bubble but it costs more and has a hell of a lot more practicality than your lightning AND ITS A FORD!!! Get off your high horse and stop pretending that your FORD lightning is the "good stuff"! Your truck is sure as hell just a brother among the many other ford trucks out there, remember, its f150online, not lightningonline you A##!

'Nastruck:

Take it easy there, big guy. My comments were not necessarily directed at the vehicle described in the original post (read my post again, my hot-tempered brother, and perhaps you'll get a better grip on it - hint - it's called "context"). Although, a Lightning-badged Supercrew is a pretty weak styling exercise, you have to admit.

And yes, the Lightning IS the bomb-diggity. Sorry about that, but I just can't apologize for the fact. I understand the indignation involved with driving around in a handsome, fast-looking mid-16-second pickup (read - "R/T Bait"), but you need to chill and not vent about it over here.

actually, this "badgeing" worked for Tom Jones for years. he also presented "a package" that kept them talking and guessing. you just have to be smart like him and never "pop the hood"
