Question Diablo chip????

Anybody know anything about these??

A friend of mine who owns a custom speed shop told me that the distributor that he buys this chip from wants to test it on a lightning. He is offering me a free chip and a free afternoon doing dyno pulls to see what it'll make. I was really set on an R-9 but I am finding it hard to resist the offer.

Any info would be appreciated.

Spencer

Only a fool would refuse this offer You can still buy a R-9 if you dont like it!.Be sure to do some on road testing. This way (the real life) will be good to check for pinging and shifts, boost loss, surging This will save you and potential buyers headaches.

One thing i hate about some chip makers is their lack of real world results.

"gee boy its making 400 horsepower on the dyno"Then you find out its loosing boost, pinging like a piano, and is running so lean you pistons have shriveled up to look like a ak-47 went through it

Lightning Dammit has the Diablo Chip and doea not like it. you have to let off to shift, and is not tweeked as good as the PSP chip. He ran a 9.5 in the 1/8 Saturday with it. He was haveing to let off at 2500 RPM to shift. a stock lightning run 9.2 - 8.9 in the 1/8 stock... Just my two cents...

Spencer,
I have an R9 for sale. It has a warranty that will carry-over to you via Mike Troyer of Superchips. I'm very happy with performance. See signature.
Email for more details or view the Classifieds Section of this board for the other items you may find interesting.

If that's true about L'Dammit then there obviously something going wrong with the chip. Everything I've heard about the Diablo chip so far have been pretty good (mostly from other forums). You certainly don't think that a manufacturer designed the shift program so you have to let up on the throttle at 2500 rpms, do you? If so, let me tell you about this bridge I got for sale.

If the dealer is offering you a free chip, I say go for it. If not maybe you can let me know who the dealer is and I'll try it out.

Thanks everyone for the input. Kind of dissapointed already and I haven't even had the chip installed yet. All I can hope for is that possibley they have made an attempt to correct these problems and maybe that is why they need another test truck. I will make sure that I take the guy for a little test drive just in case it is having the shifting problems that was mentioned. And if so, well, I'll get a free chip, but if it is lousy then it is no good to me anyway!! What to do?!?

do it, what have you got to loose? You will get some dyno info on your truck, see how it responds with a chip, & a free chip to boot. I would do it w/out hesitation! If you dont like it, you can always buy a chip you do like.

I have to agree with HIGH ROLLER. I followed his posts and tried the JDM chip. It was by far the best chip I had ran.
