Cool

I was invited to the same party, but turned it down after hearing so much bad publicity.
Just ordered a JDM flip chip.

PS.....R9 for sale if anyone is interested.

White2000SVT.....I'm in Coral Springs, want to test my R9 and see if you like it?

Unhappy

Thanks again everyone.

HIGH ROLLER- sorry I didn't get to read your posts on chips. I went back and did a search, great info.....hopefully others will read them too when it comes down to choosing a chip.

TimBurntire- the people that I'm dealing with said that they had someone to test the chip out a while back but the party backed out...could that have been you?? It's off of Yamato and I-95 in Boca Raton.

BulldogSVT- This place is called Diablo Sports. Thanks for the warning on the other shop. Sorry about your truck man!

Reith Motorsports? if its them, run like hell...had my truck there two weeks ago...they torched my pcm, superchip, and fuel system relay...major *******s! pushed my truck off their dyno and told me to have it towed...as soon as i get my new superchip and make sure it runs right, my lawyer is gonna pay them a visit...damage so far is at about $1200 bucks and not a ****ing phone call or a "gee i'm sorry i destroyed your brand new $37k pick up!"

Well, I'd go just for the dyno time and to see what the truck does with it. If it were me, I'd have my own chip in hand and have them dyno it. I've got a JDM coming (my 3rd) and would love to know what it puts down. You could know for free. However, I would make them put something in writing about their willingness to pay for any damages that occur. Just pay attention to what they do and make sure that they disconnect the battery between chip swaps.

Based on personal experience in 1990 when I accepted a Superchips offer to use my SHO as a testbed for development of the first SHO chip, I offer this advice:

Before you accept the offer, find out the specifics of the test procedures and ask if you will have to sign a damage waiver. My SHO was on the dyno all afternoon, most of the time at 7,000 rpm. Burned a whole tank of gas! Probably put a year's worth of wear on the drivetrain. Started burning oil within 6 months thereafter and had to replace the clutch. No recourse, however, because I had signed the required damage waiver.

I got a free $300 chip, custom burned for my car, and a nice dyno chart but I would not do it again. I say let someone else be the test monkey and then buy the chip. You may come out ahead. BTW, Superchips offered me the same deal a year and a half ago when I got my '99 L. I thanked them for the offer and declined. They make a good chip but I was not about to make the same mistake twice.

Mike
