wrecked my L yesterday
I hate seeing wrecked Lightnings, but maybe that is a good reminder to all of us to hand the keys over if we've had a few at dinner or out on the town.
Driving impaired is bad enough...driving impaired with the 400 rwhp most of us have is just begging for trouble.

If there is not much underlying structural damage, and the frame & suspension is ok, you might get that done for $7k or less. I would think less, except that you are going to have to paint almost all of that truck (if it were me, I'd paint the whole think, so all the paint ages the same).
I don't really know much about the cost of the sheetmetal or a bedside, but they aren't outrageous, if I remember correctly. I would insist on new parts, not "LKQ" (used). The price is likely not much different, anyway. (If it were me, I would pay the diff, if the ins co balks.)
NOTE - have the shop prepare a detailed estimate BEFORE the insurance company looks at it - that way you have something to compare the ins estimate to. Shops will NOT want to do this (I would offer to pay for their time to write it - including getting actual costs for parts), because the ins co will write their own estimate and pay off of their own, not the shops, but if you (vehicle owner) is there, you have more ammo to argue with them. The ins co will generally write an estimate that is 75% of the real cost to repair, and hope the shop will cut corners, or get tired of calling for a supplement and waiting (time is money...) and just eat the extra cost.
The only thing that scares me is the cab corner - it looks like its caved in pretty good. I don't think that will be fun to fix.
Let's see here, the airbags did not go off for some reason, the two girls said they were wearing seat belts, not sure if there is one in the middle, and I don't believe that I had one on. The cracked windshield I believe is from one of the small trees that I hit. The frame got slightly tweaked and there was also a hole in the transmission pan. The shop did give me a detailed estimate which came right in at 14,600. There wasn't really any damage to the other side besides the side mirror. The front end is all going to have to be replaced also. The shop has a pretty good rap around here so it's likely they will repaint the whole truck. They thought it looked fixable, right now they are working on an suv that they had to put a new frame on. So they have seen a lot worse. As of right now the rep from the insurance company wrote his estimate, not sure what it is, but he had to talk this over with his supervisor because of the high cost to fix and also they were checking around for salvage value. I'll keep you posted when I know more.
Are you not allowed to post pictures of wrecked Lightning's or something? Maybe it made the moderator sad and he deleted them. Poor wrecked L

That's strange, why can't you show pictures of a wrecked L? Anyway the insurance reps estimate is 12,500, so I guess he will work something out with the body shop. Probably will take a month or so to fix, but oh well I can't drive anyway. If anyone else wants to see the pics I will e-mail them to you.
