Photoshop is the best but uses alot of system resources and space 600-700MB. I think Nathan is right and use photodeluxe it has most of the tools of photoshop and is easy on your system. If have to have Adobe Photoshop 6.0 see if you can find someone that goes to some sort of university you can get software real cheap with their educational discount, a friend sent me a copy of Win2K for 15 bucks from Berkley bookstore.

Good point Infinite - Photoshop is a beast of a program and would hurt more than help on a smaller computer, or even an average PC. A dual chip Power Mac G4 is by far the best way to go if you are serious about photoshop work

Cool

OK, all you photoshop guys. It is definitely an awesome photo editing package, but not very user friendly. Go to www.jasc.com and download the trial version of Paint Shop Pro. The retail version is only around 100 bucks and has almost every feature of photoshop and few that photoshop doesn't have such as their picture tubes. It also supports adobe type filters such as the ones from alien skin (eye candy, xenofex, etc.)

600 megs of system resources ?

System resources really arn't much of an issue now days. You can buy a fast 30 gig drive for around $115.00 and memory prices are at an all time low, around 65 cents a meg. I've seen 128 meg DIMMS going for $79.00.

Brimstones correct. Multi-processor Macs have broken all speed records for Photoshop. But unless you're doing graphic editing professionally it's difficult to justify the expense.

DON'T BUY A SONY MAVICA. Mine just quit and several people I have talked with that have one have had to have theirs repaired also.
The drive crashes and has to be replaced. Cost as labor is only warrantied for 90 days is $150.00. Tried to buy the drive direct from Sony and they wouldn't sell me the drive or the repair manual and the only place you can get the camera fixed is Sony. Is this an illegal rip off or what. I need an attorney for a class action suit against Sony. I think I will try small claims court first.

Sony support is the absolute worst. Don't expect any customer service from them, they don't know the meaning. I have almost lost my sanity because of them.

As far as computer hardware goes I have found Hewlett Packard and Apple Computers to give the best service, quick, personal and as pain free as possible.

I bought the Sony because of the floppy disk feature which is the easiest to use. Does anyone else make one that uses standard floppy disk?

A strange thing happened this morning. Sony calls me and says they can fix my camer for 1/2 the labor price? Maybe you just need to complain when they hit you with the 150.00 figure? Very strange.

I hear sony makes one now that uses CDs. Except the movies can only be up to 1 minute max. When hooked up to your computer, it can sub as a cd-rom drive. Thats what I hear, but my ears are dirty, so dont hold me to it.
