Post Is it worth buying a 2000L with the 2001 right aroung the corner?

Hi Folks, I have been reading up on the lightnings a lot lately. I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I am worried about it pulling my boat and I am worried about the resale value on a 2000. A local dealer has 1 black 2000L left. He is holding out for margin but I think I can get it for under 29K. should I go for it or just wait until the 2001's are avail? Please advise... Thanks

A great man once said, "To each his own". It's whatever suits your needs now. The 2000 (be it a great truck) did have it's problems. But it's available NOW, and for a little bit cheaper. The 2001 is a shot in the dark. You're in the dark about when you're going to get it, in the dark if there are any problems with it, and also it is a little bit more expensive. Aside from availability and cost, They look different. There is the different grill, different head and tail lights, and also the wheels. If you need a hauler right now, go for the 2000. If you can wait a little bit, and don't mind the extra HP or TQ, and the extra money, go for the 2001.

Hey George, I challenge you to my first race. Since when I pick it up, I'll be 5 mins from your house! So, let's see what your 2000 ( with the chipnfilter combo) can do against my 2001 straight outta the dealer lot.

Well, OK by me, Marcus, but if it was my truck I wouldn't be racing it til I had a few hundred miles on the clock. I know the prevailing opinion on this board is "drive it like you stole it", but some of those surfaces like rear end gears need to get wear hardened and polished. But whatever you want, I'm game.

I can get a 2000L for $35g's(cdn) or approximately $23g's(us) up here. That's also with 0% financing through Ford Credit. It used to be $42g's(cdn), without Ford Credit financing, so you'd have to go through a bank with 10% interest rates.

I was able to order a 2001 cheaper then they want for a 2000 on the lot so the choice was easy for me, the hard part is waiting.
