LSChicago,

I believe your time slips say what you posted. However, I also have to question the accuracy of the timing system.

A chipped L with a great launch and no wheelspin will nail the 60' in about 1.9 secs, give or take a couple of hundredths. Knocking 3/10ths off that time would require a lot more HP than you are putting down.

IMO, your trap speed is also too low to support a 13.0 second run. It seems pretty clear that there was a timing problem in the first 60' that carried through all of your other times.

It's fun to get those freak runs, but we saw an L run an 11.05 at Englishtown last week when something blew across the beam at the finish. Stuff happens, and timing systems are not infallible.

Thumbs up

At the SVT Experience last August I saw Jerry Green's timeslip with the 1.67 60'.
I was stunned. Then at a test & tune at Rt.66 in Joliet,Il a fellow running Nitto Drag tires on his Z-28 was turning 1.6X 60' times. I saw his timeslips also and I was in even more shock because I could only manage 1.9's on M/T's. Same day same track. Great Lakes has rather new timing equipment and when they prep the track the traction can be awesome. I don't doubt LSChicagos claim, it's freaky yes but he's not a liar.

I'm not trying to call anyone a liar. But there is problems with the timing equipment at times. If there is no problem with the equipment then I ran a 8.80 last summer with a cat running around by the finish line and I have a time slip to prove it.

HighRisk,
There's also deer that wonder out on the track over there. Luckily it happened before the lights dropped but that was a 7 second buck

As for the tming equipment not working right I do not belive that because there were about 100 cars or so there on sat and i know what aprobablly 50 of them run. when they made their passes i saw their times and it was all right on to what they were supposed to run... the tree and clocks were workin right foreveryone else don't see why they wouldn't be for llyod. sounds like a little jealousy to me

I am thinking it was the lights too. The best 60' we could could pull was a 1.75 followed by a 1.78. This was at Texas Motor Plex for Fun Ford Weekend. I have a some video of the truck pulling a 1.79 60' here. We use M/T ET Streets (10.5 x 26 x 16) with Cal-trac traction bars, and a 75 shot of nitrous off the line to pull that.

When I drove to work today, I parked my truck & looked at the rear tires they had leaves & papers stuck all over them! The tires are still sticky, driving home today I could barely spin'em at all(two days later). All I can say is whether anyone belives it or not, that track was sticky. I remember one ofthe track officals saying he almost lost a shoe! Lloyd
And for the last time, my MPH wasn't there because of strong headwinds all day. I lost about 4mph average over last time.

I like the cheerios comment I am not calling you a liar but I run 12.9-13.1 latley some times with no wheel spin at all with 104-105 speeds.
I run 1.94 or so ,never run 1.8s. Ther is no way,no how a lightning ran 1.6s with chip/filter.ther was definatley a problem with the computer.Even high risk who is running 11s is barley ther!!! I believe your slip is what you say but if you knew a little more about racing,You would realize the ones below 1.8 are just computer mistakes and thats it.Its technically impossible. Oh nO NOW I SOUND LIKE MAD

I ran a 13.15 at 103+mph at byron (diferent track) with slight wheelspin got a 1.90 60'. READ THE POSTS, you'll figure out why the MPH wasn't there. I'm tired of saying it. Also my truck was pinging on the 13.07 run (1.63 60')in 3rd. I'm sure the timers were only off for me. LOL. 1.63 1.64 1.79 1.85 1.90 1.89 in that order. I'm not 4 years old, I don't pee in Cheerios! Other people I know who were at the track reported nothing out of the ordinary I.E. PROBLEMS. I'm sorry you guys can't accept it! the last 3 times at the track I had no runs over a 2.01 60' NOT ONE! That's about 50 runs. Lloyd

If I could run 60' times that low on my F-1's, I would be in the 12's every run with my superchip and pro-M. My supercharged S351 convertible runs mid to high twelves on street tires, and I'll tell ya, the Lightning runs like a Briggs & Strat compared to my 351. Something was "up" that night, allowing a window for very fast launches. Whatever those conditions were, they were freaky-good, and any driver taking advantage of those conditions as you did would have obtained equally fantastic gains over their "normal" 60' times. So there's really nothing relevant here worth arguing over, It could've happened, but that doesn't mean that ALL Lightnings should be popping 1.63's on the stock tires, nor does it mean that any bar has been lowered. I used to always hit the track the weekend following the Gatornationals, and holy gorilla boogers Batman was it sticky! Years ago, I ran a 1.98 60ft. 13.01 @ 108.2 with my '93 6-spd Vette on Goodyear GSC's at 32 psi. Only mods were a K&N and Borla cat-back. But, even with an inch of top fuel rubber + VHT laid down the 1st half of the track, my 60' gain (beyond what the car normally ran) was only really one tenth.....that 1.63 is quite an implausible gain. To have 60' times varying by THREE TENTHS on the same night is also very curious. I honestly don't imagine that given the mods, if you were able to launch at 2,500 rpm and stick it, foot on the floor, and the tires not slip even a smidge, that you could get out to the 60' beam in 1.63 simply based on the straight physics of power and weight. Guys with slicks and SPRAYING it in 1st gear aren't hitting it that quick. The more I type, the more confused this all makes me.

I think the guys spraying off the line are getting some wheelspin, even with slicks. If they put a shoe polish slash on the sidewall & video tape it is the only way to know for sure. I understand the disbelief, I can deal with that. I was the only one in my truck that day & I know how if felt. Nobody can change my belief! I'll just have to try duplicate it at another track. (as close as I can). Lloyd
