Cool Website for Ford Owners
Public office first, then the lecture circuit. But I'm biased. My father in law takes great pleasure in telling me that I'm only slightly more conservative than Attila the Hun, and almost as friendly.
Bill-
Glad to hear you like it. The Bock is by far the best. The Blond (used to be called "Premium" - the cheap stuff) is okay, but I tend to stay away from the other "seasonals." Also, this is one of those beers where there is no comparison between the bottle and draft. The bottle is good, but I've skipped many classes to spend some time on the business end of a pitcher of Bock.

Hey, Moonshine, Attila the Hun could not have been that hard to get along with. He had the opportunity to lead as many as 500,000 followers in what is billed as the greatest single day slaughter in battle in history. Supposedly, 140,000 to 200,000 men where killed in one day. They where Huns and Ostrogoths (eastern Germans)on one side, and the Romans and Visigoths (western Germans) on the other side. Year was 451 AD. Attila and his boys came back for a sequel. I think they sacked Rome that time. Attila must have been a master at public relations or threw really good parties. Although drinking home brew out of the skull of Roman is a little over the top for me. I prefer wine.
Duck01:
What they have on offer here is the Bock and it is really quite good. I am a Scotch drinker (another aquired taste) but I have lately been watching for comments on good beers that people are really enthusiastic about and have found a couple that are worth drinking at least for my taste.
BTW, did you ever visit the Hall of Fame (I think it is called) and take a peek at my Dad's plaque. He's R.L. Murray '35, and was inducted last October.
Hope your studies go well.

Actually, I haven't been by the Sanderson Corps Center yet. I am not in that area of campus (Quad and Corps Museum) except during football season. Our first home game (and march-in) is next Saturday, and I'm gonna stop by then to see if there is anything about Bonfire and will look for your dad's plaque then. Class of '35! I bet he had some great "Ol' Army" stories.
You seem to be a man of good taste. First Lightnings, then Shiner, and now Scotch.
Glenlivet is my drink of choice. The 12 is good but I go for the 18 when I can afford/find it. Speaking of, I think I'll go pour myself a glass and enjoy. Thanks for the good idea.

I find it amazing that this thread deals with both guns and alcohol. I’m curious, do y’all drink a lot and then play with guns? Now I see why the ATF has three seemingly dissimilar entities all rolled up into one organization.
Cheers

Kobiashi-
What's a deer hunt without whiskey to keep you warm? What's a dove hunt without a cooler full of coldies to sit on? We don't drink before we hunt; we drink while we hunt.
I doubt you've heard of it before, but if you are ever bored download Pat Green's "West Texas Holiday" from Napster. That song pretty much sums up your question.
Bottoms Up!

Speaking of morning coffee:
When I lived in Sweden I tried to learn as much about the history and customs of the country as I could. Even learned the language which I still speak, read and write.
Anyway, one of the really neat customs went like this.
Fill your cup/mug about 1/2 full of coffee.
Put a coin in the bottom of the cup/mug.
Pour 100 proof aquavit (home brewed of course) into the cup until you could see the coin.
Then you were ready for your morning coffee!!!
True story, believe me. Had to do with the cold temperatures in the winter and the necessity to get out and go to work on the farm. Sweden in the 1800's was very primitive outside the cities, and life was really very hard for the rural folk.
Swedes may have also brought the custom of bundling to this country.
Let's see how many of you know about that one.

kobiashi,
The proper order is to smoke first, then play with the guns, and finish with a drink. Getting things out of order tends to lead to accidents.
Duck,
Speaking of dove season, today is opening day, so why am I at work?

Man this thread has it all, pickup trucks, drinkin, guns, huntin, revenuers, all the things that make us Merricans. if you see a black "L" in the New Orleans area , this Labor Day weekend, and the driver is wearing his DUI propective helmet and his NRA protective kevlar vest, please give me the "L" hand signal, and once i verify that its only your finger, i'll return it with a smile

Conservative enough to please those older than he, cool enough to have those younger admire him, not afraid to speak his mind, hunts for his food, owns lots of hot rods, and....can rock and roll with the best of 'em.
