Cool Lightning in Austin????

So, I am WAY Jazzed... I just got on the list for a 01 L here in Austin this afternoon... and this is my first post to this board, though I've been following it for about a month or so.

My main concern is... I'm a bigger guy (6'2", bout 230)... and am a little concerned at a standard sized cab.

Can anyone comment on the cab space issue, and am I outside lucky enough that someone out here in Austin TX has one I could sit in, just to check out?

Thanks

Future 01 owner.....

What part of Austin do you live in? I am up there a lot. Might be able to hook up.

I am 6'3" and Over 250 and the reason I bought it was cause I dont fit in other sportsw cars. I had a extra cab 92 before I bought my 2000 and I have no trouble with Leg rooom or reclining the seat. I dont have the back seat any more for throwing stuff but thats why I got a Snug Lid

So you should fit fine. Go drive a regular cab F150 they are all the same size. If it has power driver seat the fit is exactly the same

Flipper,

I'm 6"4" and 295 lbs. I actually have the seat slid forward a bit. The steering wheel is pretty far forward.

I found the side bolsters very intrusive on my kidneys, but a 1/2 hour job of removing the seat from the truck and removing the seat back upholstery and spreading open the seat frame cured that.

The only remaining gripe is the lower cushion frame wire that is slowly working its way through the upholstery. Maybe, just maybe, Ford will do something about that next year.

Enjoy your wait!!

Flipper,

I'm 6'2" about 240, and I'm very comfortable in my L. I actually have the seat a bit forward, and the side bolsters fit perfectly.

I came from a Cobra so I thought I wouldn't like driving an Auto, but after the first rush hour trip in, my left knee is thanking me for it.

Glad to see I'm not the only "Large Frame" guy on the board. At 6'4" 285 I have no problems with the fit. I agree the seat side bolsters may be just a tad narrow for a guy my size.

I was very close to buying a 2000 Vette but climbing in and out and the cramped quarters keep me hoping to find something sporty but with more room. I am SOOOOO glad I kept looking. I found my RED Lightning and it was a dream come true !!!

Hey Flipper, Big E here. I am a nice sized package at 6'4" 320lbs, and the only thing I have had problems with is keeping my butt out of the seat. Only time it seems less than roomy is if there is a passanger in the middle of the seat.

Hey Caka, were you at Covert about two weeks ago to pick your L up? If so, I was the guy in front of you in the gold F150.

It's pretty fun watching the mechanics oggle over those lightnings. (granted, I oggle a bit myself).

Flipper,
I don't live in Austin but I'll be there on business 3 days in late November. If you still have concerns and want to sit in one holler and we'll figure out a way to meet when I'm there.

Cool

Okay, so, I guess my size won't be an issue

I appreciate the data from everyone.

for those who are interested, yes, I did order mine from Covert. They said that job 1 for them will be on 12/4, so I should be seeing mine sometime early spring. The only crappy part is that they won't honor my A-plan. For some reason I thought that a dealer HAD to honor it, but I guess not. At least they're not trying to gouge me 3500 over msrp like the guy across town
