Uncle Ben's finest
mracer - I don't think that the ricers have cornered the market on driving stupidity. Just look around at the soccer moms that are weaving all over the road while they talk on the cell phone and try to paint their toe nails. Then you have the old fart that should have given up his license years ago driving in the passing lane at 40 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. These old guys are typically driving big American iron. Driving too slow is just as bad as going too fast. Just because some drive a rice mobile doesn’t mean they are any more stupid or dangerous than the next guy. There seems to be an ample supply of idiots driving American made cars, at least around here. Just MHO.

Silver,
No they will not lift themselves off the ground, but they still produce weight transfer just as any rearwheel drive vehicle.
While Weight transfer is good on a RWD vehicle, it is the opposite on a FWD vehicle,
as it is removing the weight from the drive wheels. On a FWD car with wheelie bars, the wheelie bars will touch down upon this weight transfer, thus forcing the weight back to the drive wheels.
I recently saw a show on speedvision where they indicated that in most classes the wheelie bars have been banned.

i think the point is still being missed......any car can hit 11s or respectable numbers, but the rice costs so much more money to get there. secondly the VAST majority of rice out there is all show, no go. lots of stickers and fart exhaust, few actual mods.
I have to agree that "ricer" is a mind-set, and not just any import car... The "ricer" is the guy who plasters stickers on his car for parts he dosn't have and will argue with you that he does...he's the guy that buys the fake-plastic intercooler so he can look like he has a turbo... there are american cars that do this as well...Stangs that drop cobra logos all over their trucks without a cobra part.... check out http://www.riceboypage.com/ for some good examples.
There is a large import cround around here were I live, there is a 9 second Civinc, and alot of other fast cars...one of the guys that hooks me up alot drives a 11 second RX-7...
I'm always up for a good street race and don't dis anyone on their car alone...the only people I'd make fun of are the ones with the "VTech" decals on their automatic accords or such...the fake guys.
As far as stupid drivers, thats a whole DIFFERENT story... I myself will not race in moderate traffic, yet I run into the asses who want to race me and start weavin' all over endagering OTHER people... that is dumb. Atleast wait until the road is clear.... (last one was some dork in a modded VW, acclerated real quick, but agian, I won't race in traffic)
Daniel
I have said it before and I will say it again.....there is always someone faster than you out there. .......proceed with caution!
However, that little civic that is running the NOS, etc....sure it may be fast, but he will be rebuilding his motor a lot more often than you will. How many peanuts can you put into a squirrel on a rubber band anyways(just kidding!).........those are economy cars, not performance cars. Yes....we are driving trucks and not performance cars, however, these things are built from the factory this way and such are beefed up a bit more. A civic is not. Great car if you use it for it's intended purpose!
