Z06 Selling for $5000 over MSRP In Dallas
I got a call back from Chevy Dealer in Dallas from a Carpoint inquiry. He stated that GM is making 2000 Z06's and they are selling them for $5000.00 over MSRP. He pushed HARD to convince me I wanted a convertible regular Vette.
I cant see paying $5k over MSRP for a car that I wont fit in well and is only a little faster than my Pickup. But I will reserve judgement till I drive one.

Go to www.corvetteforum.com, c5 forum and ask for Karl's contact info. He is a dealer that will sell you a z06 for about $1000-1500 below MSRP.
Doug, I can't imagine that you'd be happy with a C5 unless you're buying it for your little friends to drive. I don't fit in one, so I doubt you'd find it very comfortable.
P.S.- Too bad you can't make it tomorrow. Forecast calls for a high of 58. If the track prep is decent we ought to have some good times.

I've seen 3 Z06 Vettes in 2 days. Always when I'm in the tow truck. Murphy's law I guess. Lloyd

Doug,
I own both a 2000 Lightning and a Z06. You're salesman is incorrect on the number of Z06s being sold. GM has stated repeatedly that they can build 6,000 Z06s.
You don't need to pay 5k over sticker. Q ship is correct. I paid sticker, but I got one of the first on the street.
I don't know what you mean by not fit in well as I don't know how big you are. There is definitely less room in the Corvette compared to the Lightning.
As far as speed is concerned, there is no contest, the Z06 will smoke the Lightning by any measure. The Lightning is strong but it is hard to motivate 4600 lbs.
I highly recommend taking a test drive if you can. You will see.

I drove the milder corvette with a 6 Speed.
They didnt have any Z06's. Surprisingly I fit in it just fine. I dont know if I would drive cross country in it but I wasnt cramped like i was in the NSX I drove a couple weeks back. Enough Leg room, *** room , and head room.
The thing is I just wasnt impressed. Not 50k Impressed. The heads up display is cool, as are the 47 power seat adjustments. I am sure that with time I could have gotten used to the clutch and gotten more out of the car but it just wasnt as snappy as I thought it should have been.
Plus Van Chevy will not come off thier profit markup. If I ordered on they said I could get it for $4500 over MSRP.
Moonshine you ought to go test drive one for grins. The fit has changed quite a bit from the last one I drove over 10 years ago.
I am happy with my Lightning - Besides there are 5 Late Model Corvettes that park on the top of the parking garage at work already.... I prefer to be somewhat unique. Mine is the only 140 mph pickup parked up there that will beat most of the corvettes, if for no other reason than the drivers suck. ( I know 3 of them )

WOW only 4500 over MSRP!!! Thats a STEAL.
HA HA HA HA
I hope you tell them where they can shove that dealer markup!
Same thing happened in NY when the dealer there told me they would not A-plan the lightning but would give it to me for 5,000 over sticker. Then as a SPECIAL deal, they would sell me the owners wifes car. For only 28,500!! When they wrote down the price, they actually circled it and wrote WOW down on the paper.
I could not stop laughing at them. So what did I do. I came out to MI, bought a brand new L for 26,200.
