My old arms DID have the green SVT stickers. I wasn't able to compare the original arms to the new arms side by side so I really can't tell you what the difference is. Also I don't know if the new arms they put on are the same part # that came off because I don't know what the stock #s are.

Does anyone know what the STOCK part #s are for 2000 lower control arms ? FORDSALES ? Could you find that out ?

If these numbers (XL3Z-3078-BA and XL3Z-3079-BA) are not the stock Lightning parts, what are they really made for? A 3/4 ton maybe ? SVT experimental parts? Redlite said SVT told his dealer these arms are the fix. That's good enough for me.

All I really know is that since they put the new arms on, no matter how hard I try, I can't get the front end to clunk. With the old arms I always knew just what to do to get a clunk out of them.

The bottom line was this. I was never really too concerned about the clunk noise itself. Knowing the control arm is moving in relation to the frame tells me that no matter what, your truck can NEVER be, or stay, in proper alignment. At $300.00 a pop I was having nightmares about my F1's turning to dust. Also my truck was always kind of drifting and darting around on the freeway. Especially when driving on or over those lines that parallel the lanes on our California freeways. Now with good solid control arms and a fresh alignment it tracks straight as an arrow. Now I'm one happy camper.

Hope this helps...........

Red Racer, Amen brother. Got the same control arms as yours (mine is a 99 Lightning) around January, and not a problem since. I had all the same problems you had, especially the steering.

Oh, by the way everybody. If you have not thought about this yet, colder weather is here for some of us. Check your tire pressure. It may be too low with cooler temps.
