Baby Jake

I'll let you know if and when I get mine back. They'v had it since Thursday am, and are still waiting on a "bolt" which is supposedly back ordered.

Lightning Bob

P.S. The service writer said the service manager looked at my tires but will not replace them. Will still have to work on that one.

Baby Jake
This guy is the Parts Manager for the Motorsports Division of a dealer here in Houston who is not a member of our club but does keep close tabs on us via our web site. Check out the e-mail he sent me:
ANDRE
I KNOW A MAN AT FORD SVE WHO IS A LIGHTNING ENGINEER. HE GAVE ME THE PART
#'S NEEDED TO CORRECT THE POP IN THE FRONT END. I NOW HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK AND ARE AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS THEM. ALSO, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE INTERCOOLER PROBLEMS, AND ARE SUPPOSED TO HONOR BEYOND THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE 2001 MODEL HAS THE FOLLOWING IMPROVEMENTS, LARGER INTERCOOLER[ 2 EXTRA ROWS ], REDESIGNED UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND LARGER SUPERCHARGER UNIT (Redsigned M112), IMPROVED TRANSMISSION FUNCTION, REFINED PCM UNIT (No service port). THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A MANIFOLD/INTERCOOLER
RETROFIT KIT FOR THE 99/00 MODEL. MANIFOLD WOULD HAVE THE SAME OPENING ON TOP TO
ACCOMODATE EXISTING BLOWER, BUT LOWER OPENING WOULD BE LARGER TO ACCOMODATE
LARGER INTERCOOLER. I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS THINGS DEVELOP.
REGARDS
PAUL

You could call him and ask about the part numbers if you wanted. Dealer is Tommie Vaughn Ford at 713-869-4661 and ask for Paul Jannis. I understand it to be some bolts and star washers, not my kind of fix, but?

A little birdy informs me that those who have "the clunk" might find it worth-while to schedule an appointment with the dealer.

In a tree somewhere,

Question Control arm TSB?????

Does anyone have ANY information on the TSB to fix our driver's side control arm movement? I was told by my service writer a month ago the kit was on order, today he knows nothing of the kit or TSB! GO FIGURE!

Thanks in advance,
Jake...

Talking

My clunk started at around 1200 miles. I took it in to my dealer and they did the bogus "fix" with the lock washer. The fix lasted for one day and then the clunk was back. I took it back into the dealer the next day. This time the fix was the same as a couple other people on this board (redlite & ? ). Two new lower control arms! I saw the arms before they put them on. They had green SVT stickers on the top of each arm. I now have over 3000 miles and havn't heard one clunk since.

One thing I found kind of humorous. When I climbed under my truck to check them out when the work was done I saw a FEDEX Priority 2nd Day sticker stuck on each arm. I remember redlite saying he waited a few weeks for his dealer to get his arms in. Someone paid a BUNCH to have those big heavy control arms shipped second day.

Part numbers are: XL3Z-3078-BA and XL3Z-3079-BA.

Red Racer, Did your original control arms have the green SVT stickers on the tops of the arms? Did Ford just put these SVT stickers on the wrong control arms? Were you able to compare the new # control arms to the ones that came off the truck! did they look the same. thanks 95rcobra

Thumbs up

I conversed with Paul Jannis today. This guy has an extreme knowledge of the latest and greatest coming out of Ford. It sounds good to me. Tommy Vaughn Ford has been in the 5.0 business for years. jw

Cool

Thank you all for the replies.

Unfortunately, my service writer insists on 'sitting on his hands' until a written TSB is in his little hands.

Thanks again,
Jake...
