Chip question?
First, it's nice to see we no longer have a chip war but rather a detente. Second, good luck with whichever chip you choose to purchase. It appears there are a lot of owners that are happy with the R9 program. FYI - I'm extremely pleased with the InjectTech/ACP chip that I decided to buy. Customer service should play a big role in your decision but not be the only decision. Driving style, geographics, etc., are also factors. So, glean what you can from the many posts regarding chips and get one. It doesn't have to produce the most horsepower or be the fastest, it just needs to satisfy the owner. My .02

I just installed my Superchip R9 tonight. AWESOME. Shift points are hard and perfect!! Mike was great at customer service, just like EVERYONE here already knows. I suggest the R9 for anyone who is a little skeptical about the "self-install".. I am not at all under the hood qualified, (or under the kick panel!!) Easy to install, and quick.. 25 minutes to be exact.. Thanks Mike!!

I've met several Lightning owners that have the same mods that I have. All I can say is that we are very happy with the results.
Do I want to tell you which chip? Rather not...
I'd rather beat you in the race and leave you wondering why. Several other owners stated the same thought.

Well, someones gotta say it! lol
Give SHM's chip a whirl, only time it ever has to go back is under a series of modifications like blower pulley and exhaust, where you get a lean condition and have to have the MAF adjusted to not exceed 5 volts, then having the chip recalibrated for the new MAF configuration.
It's got a few cool features that I like. I get the feeling while just cruising around town that I'm in a classic muscle car. I got the blower pulley so that does affect the operation differently so I'll try to explain. Red to green light, 1/4 throttle, gentle exceleration with the sound coming out the pipes like I'm reving out before shifting. The feel and sound that puts a smirk on anyones face.
Freeway ramp - pulling off the ramp at 50 mph, uh oh, gotta get ahead of that big transport truck, *WOT* WHAM, slammed back into the seat, your heart pounds like after a crack of thunder waking you from a deep sleep, blower screaming so loud the dogs are howling 5 miles away, other drivers crooning their heads, trying desperately to get out of your way as ya scream past them in rapid exceleration, deafing them with the blast from the pipes. After a couple seconds, easing off the gas, tranny shifts into OD and ya sit back waiting for the speedo to register again.
Now that's what I wanted, and that's what I got, perfection.
Only had a gas problem once (well twice if ya count the wife incident) and that was in california. I've got 67K logged into my L and only had to send my chip back in once for MAF recalibration.
Hmmmm, Catcha later, feel like taking the Truck for a walk now.
Cheers,

Moses,
67,000 miles!?!?!?!
How bout a little high mileage update since you brought it up.
How many sets of tires (and brands) have you gone through?
How many intercoolers?
What did they say about the pulley?
Sounds like you have a good one....

You won't go wrong with the R9. I heard that they even have a "single program" chip vs the flip chip. Since the track program on the flip is quite "streetable" you may even want to save some $$$ and just buy the single program chip with the track program...
