I see Sal explained it already but to answer your other question no you actually do it with the car off. You simply open the Drivers Door bend down and plug the XCal2 into the Aux Port (the xcal has a cable attached to it)
You then press s few buttons it will ask you to turn the key on (not start), you wait @1 minute while it does it's thing, then BAM your done. You then shut off the key and put the XCal in a safe spot (you can also use it as a Code Reader and to shut the Check Engine Light off if it throws a Code)

Happy New Year!!!
Unless you get your tune from the place I got my a xcal2 from... I pressed a few buttons and BAM, my truck dose not run anymore so I call the tuner and was told they would send a new tune... A month go's by nothing, so I call again and another month go's by and still nothing. So I send it back to the tuner and I get a call from the tuner asking what I want them to do with it! I was so mad I told them to do whatever they wanted with it, haven't heard from them in three month. Guess I'm out a xcal2
Sorry for the rant, but I had to get it off my chest!
Mike

You just plug into the OBD port and load the tunes, very easy.

Btw.... a turbo 4x4 would be a sweet trick ride
This is all new to me to ..I'd thought I'd learn about tuning by just reading what you guys had to say but I'm still
So the tuner just adjusts the cpu's program? If I add something to my engine today and tune it, then add something tomorrow..just tune it again? The tuner itself never needs to be updated?

Thanks

Yes, Unlike a chip that you have to send back to be changed, with a programmer they just send a program in a email and you download and in stall in you truck.

It wasn't a Lightning, but it was one bad a$$ truck. Some of you may know the guy, I have a horrible memory so I can't remember his name. The truck was burgandy and he was hanging out with the JDM crew.
Did you mean this truck.

I think it has a 32 valve motor - non charged.
Very well put together and the exhaust exits are real good

wow.. i guess i shouldnt post in here since i chose the lighting style over the HD style.. ill get my head bitten off and told i woulda been better off buying an L

2 reasons i didnt buy an L..

1 insurance.. when i got this truck i was 18.
2 i have more fun building it then just buying it off the lot.

ive got respect for guys that got an L.. but when they start bashing you about your truck is less than theirs and since it looks like an L that your plainly trying to copy or be like them. it just brings down the integrety of the ford community. im not saying all L owners do this.. but if you read this thread im sure u can get a good idea who it is.

if you wanna buy it... buy it.. if you wanna build it.. build it..
im just happy you bought Ford

But Hey, I'm N/A vs. a SC'ed truck. Let me install my TURBO set-up and it will be a different story. My N/A 5.4 went 13.60E.T on 7 cylinders. Found out later that I broke a compression ring in #5, bad engine builder. So I would of gone low 13's no problem on all 8 cylinders. Now the truck is 400-450LBS lighter. So 12's shouldn't be a problem in the spring. Not too many "REGULAR" F-150's running around in the 12's *N/A*.

You must have some slow *** Lightnings in your area.

You left out reason number three. You couldn't come up with the additional 10 K to get from your 4.6 XLT to the Lightning.

The rest of the crap you posted was all just to make you feel better about not owning a Lightning.

That was probably Paul Gamino. Not only is that truck fast...but it is damn consistant with Paul behind the wheel.
