And it's EXACTLY the same (with advantages) with the Hand Helds like the Predator and XCAL2, just plug it in install the tune and BAM your done....
NOTHING ELSE NEEDED
The only time you need an outside computer is if you want to do stuff like data log (record ) some driving time and then read and examine the results
OR if you want to change the actual tune / tunes yourself, "if the tuner allows that". Yes to do that you'll need to download some software, have the proper cable, and of course a computer to read open make changes save and transfer that info back and fourth into the Handheld.
Please explain exactly what it is your upset at ???
No wing for me Pitstain... id rather run it off a bridge. Yes I would like a lightning, but instead of spending 20k on one, which would have to have 10k put in it, im buiding a lightning engine and putting in my truck, all forged interals good for 1000hp and its getting a precision 76mm turbo...
For all those mods you already did to your truck, plus the new motor and turbo you could have picked up a 99 or 00 L. I saw one last week in New York( 2000 L Black 76,000 miles 13,500$$$$) I was even thinking about buying it to add to my collection. My goal is to have every year Gen II L made 99,00,01,02,03,04......

I'll explain a little, and hopefully that will clear it up for you...
With a chip, you load the tune, give it to the customer, they clean the PCM, stick the chip on, and you're done.
With a tuner, you load the tune, give it to the customer, they plug it into their OBD port, load the tune, and you're done. It's actually easier because you're just plugging it in and pressing a few buttons.
I think what you may be unsure of, is the "optional" things you can do with the tuner. If you want to interface it with your PC, you need the USB cable. You can interface with your PC for two reasons. The first, is to be able to use the Live Link datalogging program. The second, is you can have a new tune or tune revision e-mailed to you by your tuner, and then you can load it to the Xcal using your PC. This way there is no sending the tool back in, like you need to do with a chip.
Does that help?
