I park my truck in storage in September and pull it out in April.

the only thing is the tires tend to have flat spots, but come out after an hour of driving.

Mine sits year round, obviously in the summer it's driven more but only for an after work blast, in the winter maybe once a month with twice a month start ups, with no ill effects, I'll keep about 3/4's in the tank to try to avoid condinsation, something I've done since I was a kid, does it help? I don't know but I've never had an issue with fuel contamination, I do no winter prep other the check all my fluid and have it full of clean oil. Todd

Wow, I must be really bad. I bought my 01 on 01/14/06 and drove it 3 times since. I just picked up my 04 a month ago and drove it home and it has been sitting in the garage covered up since. MY L's will not see the roads untill june.

Welcome to F150 young Lady. .

Please do not just start up your 'cold' L and just let it idle. When you start it up, please drive it for at least 20-30 minutes and drive it slowly for the first 5 or so minutes to allow all the parts(trans, rearend, tires, brakes, steering, etc.) to warm up togeather.

Since I bought the wife a 300C I get to drive the Mark VIII to work and back approx 30mi @ 17.5 mpg city and leave the L. parked in the garage. woo hoo. I drive it about once every three weeks. If you look at the logic of hurting it by letting it set, then all the new cars sitting on the car lots for one to two years before being bought and driven are damaged before you ever buy them. Ha Ha Ha. Welcome...

From: Colorado,
The old rule of thumb that I was raised on was to drive your car at least 10 miles if you not using it for a daily driver and that's not really enough. If you work or go to school closer than that take the long way home or go for a nice cruise on your day off.

Just those little short hops to the grocery store or bar aren't enough to burn off the condensates and acids.

Heat causes evaporation of moisture and other chemicals. ( a good thing)

Mechanical stuff is designed to fit together properly at operating temperatures. Just because the engine say's normal temp doesn't mean that everything else is.

Seals need to warmed up and coated with fresh additives to do there job for a long time.

It would be nice if you could store your truck in climate controlled garage like Jay Leno but I'm not that lucky.

A good thought on the fuel level to keep things fresh. In the old days we had steel gas tanks and kept them topped off to prevent rusting but that is not needed with plastic tanks and since there basically vapor sealed I don't know that condensate is an issue. We run a lot of blended ethanol where I'm at and I think that old winter additive "HEAT" was basically alcohol anyway.

Hope your baby lasts you a long time.

my 99 i bought new has about 12,000 miles on it and have had no problems as far as up keep and not driving it so much.the battery tender is a must and you might forget the mileage as far as oil changes go and do it at least twice a year.i do mine every 4 months but that may be overkill but its pampered woprse than the wife or dog.
