KB 2.6 with stock block???

I am going to be ordering a 2.6 once I get my xmass bonus. It will be going on my 04 with 3500 miles on it. The truck is bone stock besides exhuast ,tune, etc... I will be doing intake, pulleys, new tune, headers, maf,tb,etc.... at the same time as installing the KB. Do you think that this will be safe considering the bottom end is bone? The truck is not my DD, and I prob drive it once a month in the summer. Any opinions????

Upgrade the fuel pumps, get the SCT-2400 MAF, and 60 lb. injectors. Those are the key support mods you'll need. A good dyno tune is also required. I'm running a Whipple on the stock block @ 500/600. 8 months now with no issues; and, it IS a daily driver, as well.

Odin, if you don't mind me asking, how much timing and boost are you running?

If you are not going to build the motor, getting the 2.6 is a waste. Why get a such large blower and not utilize it to its full potential?

04,
Ok I do have Patriot Stage II Heads and Crower Stage II Cams,
but I also went from an Apton, 60lb Inj, SCT BA2400, Kooks, Pipes, Cats, Bassani, etc... and the diff is HUGE, I picked up like 100 HP and that was by detuning it (timing wise), and I had 500 to begin with. BIG lower pulley ; o )

I almost have to agree that the Whipples and 2.6's being large AND POWERFUL SC's may be too much to put on a stock block "unless you go back to a stock lower pulley and really pull timing".

The increase in power is MASSIVE, the increase in boost is INSANE
(9-10lb increase over an Eaton WITH NO PULLEY CHANGE)
Massive power and Insane Boost + Stock Block = hehehehehe

BUT BRO, THIS SC KICKS *** AND GETS (3) THUMBS UP FROM ME

For that matter, why buy a supercharged pickup truck in the first place? Surely the power would be better utilized in a lighter vehicle. We're all a bunch of loons.

I think he means the S/C upgrade is a waste if you're putting it on and/or worried about using it on the stock block - not meaning the power itself is a waste.

I understand him. The fact is, these bigger blowers are more efficient and the intake temps are lower than the other blower options we have. You need a built motor to take full advantage of them; but, that doesn't mean there isn't a benefit to running them on a stock block. I can make more power and keep intake temps lower. I'm making 100 rwhp over the MP I took off, with less timing, boost, and a very rich A/F ratio. When I finally decide to put a built long block in, I'll already have the blower and the support mods needed to take advantage of it. Aside from upgrading the fuel lines.

Well, I talked it over with my tuner and he said that it is risky but he will do his best to give it a safe tune.( not too much boost). The way I see it is if I destroy the bottom end then ill have to build it anyhow. I am going to be purchasing it next week. Will not install or dyno it untill spring. That will give me plenty of time to order all the other goodies.....
