INTERCOOLER IDEA
Hey Noel
I can't give you an estimate on that short of a length ( 12" = 1 foot). As for the bypass it is not in yet as my tank is still under construction. I can shoot a photo.

With the truck at normal operating temperature, I usually have a intercooler reading between 95-110 degrees. After just 4 minutes of cooling with the JohnnyL/Spiro "IGLOO COOLER" my temperature drops to a cool 60 degrees.
Now, if I were to cycle the fluid with a cold truck, the coolant has gone as low as 36 degrees
But like stated by Babolt, you need to consider the vibration factor and volume.

I do not have a temperature guage that is permanently mounted, I use a kitchen thermomter that is extremely accurate. I take my readings with the intercooler reservoir cap off, with the temperature guage probing the coolant. I do plan to make this a permanent guage under the hood.
Its the ones with a small 1.5 inch face with a 6 inch probe....hope this helps

I got an AutoMeter 2 1/16 Water temp gauge today. It starts at 100. Now to Lowes to find a copper tee with a threaded base that matches one of the two pipe fittings supplied with the gauge. The inside diameter of the intercooler hose is 5/8", just measured.

It's not the prettiest, but you can use a galvenized pipe tee. I have have this gauge but it will only read 100*. I can't find anything wrong with it and it only reads 100* in near boiling water too.
