I sometimes get the belt slip on the O/D down**** at 40 an I'm bone stock still.

Also, has any tried the HyperTech chip either? They make one for the Lightning.

BRIMSTONE

I hate to name names. The chip that I was having problems with I took back to the tuner and he cut down the 3rd-back-into-overdrive shift so that it no longer rammed in to over-drive so damn hard.

But it still did not make the L perform like I wanted it to at low end. I diffidently noticed a difference with I re-installed the Super.

I am now very happy with the Super.

If it weren't for a re-burn for the 4.10's, Super would have re-burnt the new R9 free.

For street driving, I don't see any more changes coming. I think Jay at Super has gotten everything possible out the their new program. If you are going to run the quarter, there is another program but for the street, they are probably finished.

"Is the R9 chip the only one that solves this problem? Do you PSP, SHM or Inject tech chip users get the "belt slip?"

Well, I have the PSP and I never have experienced belt slip. Does this happen stock or was it only with the older superchips?

Question

Guys,

Did your Superchip actually state R9 in any part of the paperwork?

I received mine but all it says in the paperwork is CUX2373.

I guess this means CUX for a 2000 with 3.73 gears but I'm just guessing.

I thought that I was getting the new R9 program.

I'm also getting belt slippage with the Swanson chip. Maybe its time for a new goodyear gatorback belt....

RE: Diablo Chip...There is a dealer in the local South Florida area who will dyno my current chip back to back with the Diablo one and if the results don't please you it's a no sale. Reburns are free until you are satisfied. Just some more confusion to add to the chip debate....Ken

The R9 made the L a totally different truck even over the Superchip I was running for 6 months. I have been running the beta R9 for about three weeks, and cannot believe the incredible difference in the truck. I am going to Superchips this morning for a factory install of the final version of the R9. Thank you Superchips and Mike Troyer!

Hi Gang,

Just to clear up some of the confusion, the R9 program is the latest program for either the 1999 or the 2000 Lightning. We wanted to clear up the confusion caused by different names for the programs from one model year to the next, so this last R&D round has given us the R9 program for both the 99's and the 00's. This represents the maximum power that can be made at any rpm or throttle position in the Lightning while using pump premium gasoline.

The biggest difference in the R9 programs for both the 1999 & 2000 Lightning is the additional power below 3000 rpm, an area where we had not pushed it to the limit previously due to traction problems people were already having. We decided to go ahead and give it all the power that can be made at any rpm & throttle position on pump premium gas, just to show what *can* be done, and let people sort out their traction problems as best they can. The R9 program shifts a bit softer then the R7 program on the 2000 Lightnings, just to give you an idea.

As always, Superchips delivers.

I never had the belt slippage problem until I put in a chip. Before that I still had a shift kit but it didn't knock me forward when shifting to OD. I really don't mind hard shifts or even being knocked forward as long as the performance is there but I worry that this can't be good for the belts nor the drivetrain. Or is this more of a comfort issue? Will the R9 program for the 99s shift like the one for the 00s?

Does the R9 program have the spikes during shifts? Is Inject-Tech the only chip that solves this problem?

Mike Troyer maybe you can answer these questions.

Thanks,
Mike

I am still wondering if anyone has any dyno numbers of any kind using this new program on a 2000 lightning. Anyone? Help? Please...

I want to know if it is possible to flip between a superchip and a psp chip. Could it been done? It seems like superchip is good for around town driving and 1/4 miles times, but that the psp chip is the fastest in the 1/4. Correct me if im wrong.
