Airaid to a PSP Filter Kit

great photo!
To me that blower noise is well worth the change over to the Airaid and Big Mouth.

great photo!
I just recently went back to the stock air box and to be honest I have not noticed any major difference in performance. The only thing I have noticed is the blower noise is less noticable.

Yes, the blower whine is worth the price of admission, especially when your next to someone on the highway. Leaving work the other day, I jumped on it HARD, was a good 1000 ft from the jobsite. The next day had six people come up to me and ask "What the hell is in that truck, sounds like a jet!". You just gotta love that kind of reaction. But Hwy_2_L, why would you put the stock air-box back on, unless you are going to the dealer for work. Just curious.
The quality of the PSP kit is great.Fit and finish are top notch, just be prepared for a wait.I beleive that PSP is also a distributor of S&B Filters so you can order one from them.I have the airaid and s&b and love it.....thinkin bout that johnny lightnig ram air kit

I do like the whine of the blower but there is something to be said for sneaking up on your prey. I've had a couple of different ideas in my head about this whole filter issue. It can't be doing any good drawing hot air from under the hood. The Airaid box doesn't seal tight against the fender so I am sure it is just drawing hot air from the engine compartment. Even when you are moving there is no ducting in the fender to bring cool air to the Airaid. As air comes in through the raditor you would think you would be getting cool air but remember you are exchanging heat from the engine with that air so it's got to be hot as well. The only reason the stock box gets its air from the fender area is because it is sealed and has no choice but to pull the air from the fender area. Looks to me like the best option is to reduce the restriction in stock box as much as possible and pull cooler air from outside the engine compartment. I'm also looking at different hood options so the Airaid might go back in. That depends mostly on if the Airaid works with the new hood. As for taking it off for service, my service guys are cool and know everything I've done to my truck. They even know about the chip and that I put it in before I had 300 miles on the meter. Sorry this got so long but that's why I did it. That and I was bored.

I would be interested in your hood selection, as Iam trying to budget enough money for a "ram-air" type of hood. That or a "cowel-type" type. The NEVER ending quest for satisfing my Lightning urges contuines.
